Glenna Mae Addley was born Glenna Mae Conlin on February 16, 1938 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan. She and her three brothers and sister lived on a nearby farm near Gunworth and when she was eight, her mother made the decision to relocate the family to Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. The trip north took two days and Glenna can remember riding on a mattress on top of the truck. They were accompanied by their Uncle Art, and soon settled into life in Loon Lake. Her early accounts of life in Loon Lake are memorable. She and her siblings were fiercely proud and protective of one another and this continued when mom began to raise her own family.
It was in Loon Lake that Glenna met the love of her life. Angus Addley had moved to Loon Lake from Fielding to teach school and when they met it was true love. They were married in the Anglican church in Loon Lake on August 17, 1955 and had been married for over 66 years at the time of Glenna’s passing.
Their early years in Loon Lake were spend raising a family of four boys and a daughter. Glenna was very proud of her children and the educational and career paths each has chosen. Glenna was also very proud of her own surprising success in sales. She began a sales career to supplement the family income but soon rose to a senior management level and an independent career she truly loved.
In 1985, the family relocated to Saskatoon and Glenna’s career continued until her retirement. She was pleased to have met and maintained several lifelong friends she met during her career. After her retirement she dedicated time to several church and humanitarian programs. She was proud of the annual care basket the church organized and distributed each year to many in need. But her greatest pride was always her family.
Glenna lived a full and happy life. When she was recently asked if she had any regrets her answer was no. She was so pleased to have raised a family and been married to her lifelong husband, Angus.
Glenna was predeceased by her brother, George; and by her sister, Pat. She is survived by her brother, Perry Conlin and wife Chez; and her brother, Grant Conlin and wife Alvina. Glenna leaves behind and is forever loved by her husband, Angus; her sons, Barry, Blayne, Graham and wife Karen, Cameron and wife Kathy; and her daughter, Glenna Lynne. She is also survived and loved by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved very much.
