CLARE EDWARD HEAGY
(1932 - 2022)
Clare Edward Heagy passed away into the presence of his Lord and Savior in Saskatoon, SK on March 23, 2022.
Clare was born into a large family on a farm near Constance in Southern Saskatchewan, to Frank and Helen Heagy. He attended a one room country school until Grade 10 and finished High School at Central Collegiate in Regina. In 1951 he commenced articling as a chartered accountancy student and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1957.
He met his future wife, Evangeline (Vangy) Baron in Regina, and they were married on June 21, 1958. He was employed at that time by Revenue Canada Taxation as an assessor, conducting audits of business organizations. They moved to Saskatoon in 1960 where Clare joined a local firm of chartered accountants. That firm merged with Coopers & Lybrand in 1969 and Clare was appointed managing partner of the Saskatoon office. In 1983, he established his own practice, and was later joined by various individuals as his partners. The firm is presently known as Heagy LLP. Clare enjoyed public practice immensely and treasured the many clients he served in his 38 years in practice in Saskatoon. He was recognized by the Saskatchewan Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1996, when he was admitted as a "Fellow" for meritorious service to the profession, entitling him to use the "FCA" designation. It was his great pleasure to see both of his sons qualify as chartered accountants, as well as grandsons Carson and Joshua.
Clare was active in numerous business and community organizations, most notably the Saskatoon Rotary Club, the YMCA and his church. His many contributions to the Saskatoon community will leave a lasting legacy.
He was recently predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Evangeline in January 2022. He was much loved and will be dearly missed by his sons Brent (Jill) of Calgary, AB and their children Lindsey and Joshua; Brian (Marlynn) and their children Carson, Rochelle and Carlie (Mackenzie) Russell.
A celebration of Clare's life will be held at Elim Church, 419 Slimmon Road in Saskatoon at 1:30 PM on March 30, 2022. If you are unable to attend in person the Service will be live streamed.
