Tyson was a smart and caring individual. He brightened my day and went out of his way to ensure I felt appreciated and valued. We had many conversations about how certain people can make huge impacts by challenging the norm and being stubborn enough to carry though. We chatted about books and I asked him to read Outliers because I felt it would resonate with his soul. He sent me the attached photo letting me know that I left a mark on him as he did for me. No words can express how sad I am that he is gone and my heartfelt thoughts are with his loved ones.

He made a point to come visit and pick up a hat or a bunch of hats from Cab when he was in town or when he knew there was new stock. All the staff knew him and it was always a great time when he’d come around! Thankful to have seen him this past winter as he stopped by knowing the shop would be closing and we had a great catch up. Our thoughts and wishes for peace go out to Laurie, his children, the family, and all that loved him

My deepest heartfelt condolences to all those you loved Tyson and were fortunate enough to to know him. Laurie, Summer, Tariq and Raymond as well as all his family and friends my thoughts, prayers and love are with you
I was lucky enough to be with Tyson the first time he got to see one of his idols in person .. Allen Iverson! Myself, my cousin, Ray and Tyson journeyed to Toronto for what turned out to be quite the adventure. While we were on that trip taking in a couple basketball games I also got to experience and witness the love of brothers. It was easy to see Ray was also one of Tyson idols .. and though it was many years ago it was a trip I won’t soon forget!
Rest In Peace my friend

First of all I’d like to say my condolences to the family and I’m sorry for the loss he was a good friend to me. I grew up with him throughout the years and the last time I spent the day with him was probably the best day me and him had together. It was a few years back we were at the exhibition grounds, I had my daughter and he had his daughter, playing games and riding rides, we hung out at the beer gardens then even later on in the evening hung out at that pub on the grounds it was a really good day.I actually always loved him for who he was and how he always treated me believe it or not we were friends. We respected one another. He always tried to beat me up in our early days of elementary but he couldn’t, and I couldn’t win either, it always came down to the principal dragging us to the office. As we got older the friendship grew and it’s one I’ll never forget.. he will be missed

I took this photo of Tyson one day when he surprised me with an “are you home text” I told him to come on over! He always surprised me with those messages and I always invited him over. We used to spend so much time together, flipping his house on 5th and we would walk with Summer from there back to LR…one of his favourite photos of Summer is the picture I took of her sitting on a big rock on 5th Ave, I hope to see it again someday. I’m going to miss our random lunches together, the time we did that we went to Mr Mike’s and had the shrimp tacos and the bruschetta, we also tried their lavender gin fizzle and Ty loved it instantly (it was super good)! He was so funny, always joking around and laughing! He was also super cheeky too, I remember one of the last times he was over he had messaged asking if I was home but by the time I got the notification it had been a few minutes! After telling him to come over he replied “nah you took too long I’m going to the gym” he ended up eating his words because he forgot his gym key lol he texted and said he was coming over now so I replied “nah I’m good, thought you had to go pick things up and put them down?!” I of course got the infamous middle finger emoji haha
We used to spend a lot of time at LR together, he used to cook for me there which was something I wasn’t used to seeing a man do for me. He truly was the sweetest and a genuine gentle heart.
I’m going to miss him so much but I know he is always close to heart.

I love this video I have of Ty cleaning my shoes for me. (Won’t let me upload a video so I screen shotted for a pic)
Everyone who knew Ty knew that he kept his shoes very clean. If he got any mark on them he immediately had to clean them. He used to clean mine too. “Pass me your foot your shoes are dirty” last night when I said goodbye to him I was wearing the same shoes, and when I glanced down I noticed they were dirty. I was wishing he was able to clean them for me again. I’m going to miss my sweet Ty so much.

Yesterday when I smudge and prayed for Tyson and his family and friends, I remember the story he loved telling about the time he was in jail and joined a smudging circle. He was the only non indigenous person in it and didn’t know anyone. He said he wanted to break the ice so he jumped in the middle of the circle and said “What do you call a white man surrounded by a bunch of natives? A bingo caller” he said they all laughed and took a liking to him right away. But how could you not. He was a charming guy!
If you have sage or sweet grass, light some for Tyson. He loved my culture. He knew a lot about indigenous teachings. I told him I think he’s more indigenous than me Haha
I love you Ty. Watch over all of us. Hiy Hiy

This is a memory I get to look at every time I go to my fridge. The time my parents took Tyson and I to the dunes for a VIP dinner. I think Tyson went up to the buffet 10 times. He loved to eat. He often cleaned up his plate and then finished mine. Haha “you going to finish that?”
Ty loved doing things with my parents and I. My dad and him loved bugging each other about each other’s baseball team. I remember one time I was having dinner at their place and Tyson and my dad said Tyson just text me about my jays. They were getting beat so bad by the Sox and he had to rub it in my dads face. Haha I’m going to miss his cheekiness.
