Just found out about George's passing via Luther Care Light magazine, showing a donation in George's memory. For many years, our visits to loved ones at Luther Tower and the care home were made so, so much easier by the hospitality and good company at George & Shirley's Bed and Breakfast. It is hard to describe what it meant to find welcoming accommodation and fun during a time when when we were facing so much loss and illness in our Saskatoon family. On behalf of my family, I am most grateful for the support, the depth of which I felt when I saw George in a pew at my grandmother's funeral. My condolences to Shirley and family.

My heartfelt sympathy, Shirley and family, in your loss of George. I remember George as part of the University Hospital family, especially from the '80's when he, my husband and I were all employed there. He was kind, hard-working, friendly and generous. And he and I had a common problem: narcolepsy. So I felt a special kinship. All of our lives have moved on in different directions since then, but when I read his obituary, I still felt a stab of grief and then thankfulness for the times that our paths crossed and we knew one another. Fondly, Lynne Bresselaar (formerly Bidwell)

Dear Catherine, Shirley and family,
I was so sad to hear of George's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of him when we did Summer Players shows together. It makes me smile to think of the way we used to say "Ladies and Gentlemen, George Haines!" and clap when he came into rehearsal. I hope it made him smile too! My condolences to you and everyone in your family. George was a great person!

Mrs. Haines and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Haines’ passing. I have such a clear memory of his voice as he walked past our pew singing the processional and recessional hymns at St Timothy’s, and as cantor for the psalm. My deepest condolences.

Dear Shirley and Family, Paul and I are terribly sorry to read of George's death. We met George many years ago as he was a staunch supporter, volunteer and Board Member for the Canadian Club of Saskatoon. George was such a gentleman, had a great sense of humour, a love of current affairs and for Canada. Shirley, you were adamant about keeping George at home as long as possible for years after George had the strokes. Please accept our condolences and sympathy. Laura and Paul Van Loon

Deepest Sympathy to George’s family. He was the dining partner of my dad, also named George at Luthercare. I enjoyed talking with Mr. Haines when I would visit my dad. He always remembered my name and was a pleasure to have at the table. My dad will miss him. RIP
