Obituary of Edith Daniels
Edith Daniels
March 28, 1937 - February 13, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Edith Daniels. Edith passed away at her residence in Saskatoon on February 13th, 2022. She will be missed by her children, Tim (Lori), Kathy (Perry), Patty (Todd) and Caroline (David). Edith was adored by her grandchildren, Stephen (Jenny), Phillip, Callan, Jadyn, Sophia, Emily, Isaac, Augusta and Charlotte. Sadly, Edith missed learning about her first great grandchild, Isabelle Mary Lymer Daniels born 3 days after Edith's passing.
Edith's childhood was one of upheaval. With her mother Agnes and brother Harry, she traveled through Russia and Germany during WW2. This journey taught Edith perseverance and strength that she carried with her throughout life. After high school graduation Edith became a registered nurse winning the General Proficiency Award in her graduating class. Edith married Rudy in 1959 and moved to their farm near Clavet. Edith took a break from nursing to raise her young family. Later in life Edith took a nursing refresher course and continued her nursing practice and then became a crisis counsellor. Helping others was Edith's calling. She was smart and compassionate.
Edith loved everything about the farm - from the small songbirds to the big prairie sky. Edith's sacred spots were her garden, her kitchen and her sewing room. There she combined her hard work ethic with her creativity to grow amazing vegetables, cook incredible food and sew gorgeous clothing. She was a terrific host and anyone who drove onto the farm would be escorted to the kitchen table and treated to cabbage rolls, sauerkraut, crumb chicken, soup, bread, cookies or her specialty - pizza. Edith was known for being a great listener and sharing insight. Between her good food and her innate desire to learn more about you, she made people feel whole and happy. Edith was an amazing mother with a no-nonsense attitude. She had complete faith that her children would work hard and do great things. Ahead of her time, she did morning yoga sessions, made her kids nutritional drinks and practiced the 100 mile diet before any of these things were popular. Sadly Edith was diagnosed with Parkinsons at the age of 65. In spite of Parkinsons taking away so many things she loved, she continued on with an amazingly positive attitude. We can all learn from her positive perspective, tenacity and perseverance.
Edith relied on many to help her as she aged. The family gives a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Circle Drive Alliance LTCH, Bayshore Care Aides, Mary Ann De Leon, OverC Health staff and all of Edith's friends who worked to stay connected with her in spite of COVID restrictions. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sewing Seeds Canada at Sewing Seeds Canada in Edith's name. Condolences may be left for the family at Edith's tribute page at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Edith's Life Celebration will be a come-and-go tea held May 8, 2022 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at Agar's Corner (Highway 16 & Floral Rd). Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home.
