The news of your departure did not sit well with us. We all expected more fulfilling years. But that was not to be.
The length of relationship and love is long in history.
Your evolving traits blossomed into becoming a big brother to our father , a role model and adviser in Engineering practice, marriage, Ministry and planning.
Your love for our household was real, affirming, progressive and constant. Your constant follow-up of the progress and welfare of the children was amazing.
Your counsels were always pragmatic and practical.
Your were a model a caring personality. You wanted our good and we knew it.
Year 2020 was the last time our family saw you at Lokoja.
You were a lover of knowledge and Meticulous, brilliant Engineer is being missed already.
We shall hold the forth by the grace of God so as to enter the rest of the Father.
Rest on in the bossom of our Lord.

The news of the death of my brother and friend ,Moses Dare Ode was a great shock to me and my family. We have known Dare for over 40 years. We are from the same town Isanlu in Kogi State and share so many things in common including our faith in Christ and our names. In my early days in primary school, my name was Dare Moses.
Our families became a lot closer when I moved to Warri as District Manager for Texaco Overseas company in 1992. The family welcomed us gladly and provided the needed social support throughout our stay. His counsel to me on relationships with the community people was extremely helpful. Dare was the guardian for our oldest son that we kept behind in Warri for sometime in DSC secondary school when we relocated to Lagos.
Dare was fully committed to Christ and was very diligent and faithful in serving the Lord. Our hearts go out to our Sister,Dr Titilayo Ode and the children. We continue to pray for God’s comfort and strength at this time and for the years to come. I would also like to register our condolence on behalf of the Isanlu Brethren Fellowship to our Sister and one of the early members of the Fellowship The Lord will keep you and sustain you in Jesus name. Engr. Ode lived a life that positively imparted those who knew him. He loved and gave from his heart. He was such a good man; generous and compassionate. Draw your consolation from the fact that he lived to serve God and humanity and that we shall meet again at resurrection. May his soul rest in peace. May you his wife, children and relatives be comforted by the Holy Spirit. Amen. Dr. Grace Ebunlola Adamo

I first met Bro Dare Ode when he took two tough decisions:
1. Based on reports he had of me he came to drop his Son to temporarily live with me while schooling at the Olabisi Onabanjo University.
2. He was prepared to baptize the young man into the troubles of life. According to him that was the second time in life that the boy will not sleep under air conditioner.
May his faith and Christian strength continue in his children.

Engineer Ode was a big brother to me when I was working in Warri. It was always a great delight to visit him and his family. My moments with him was always full of laughter and talking of stories of wisdom and there was no dull moments with him.. Engineer Ode was always willing to help you through any situation and ready to connect you to others who may help. He conducted the naming ceremonies of two of my children in Warri. I was shocked when I had of your departure to glory. However, though we love you, God loves you more. May your gentle and loving soul rest in the bosom of the Lord and may God fill the vacuum you left behind in the family and among your friends. May we meet to part no more on the resurrection day.

In Loving Memory of Moses ‘Dare Ode
Moses ‘Dare Ode is known to me as ‘Boy’. Boy, that’s what we call ourselves. I can’t recall the origin of the pet-name but as far as I can recollect, we have always called ourselves ‘Boy’. We bonded the very first day we met. It was ENG101 (Engineering 101) class in October 1976 and he was sitting at the back of the class. I was admitted through supplementary admission, probably because the University was waiting for my WASC result, so I missed the early student’s orientation, and I was finding my way through and locating my classes. When I entered the class, I approached him to confirm that I was in the right class; and as soon as I introduced myself and said I was from Bendel, he was at home with me. He said that though he was from then Kwara State, he attended Auchi Polytechnic and hence Bendel was his second home. From that moment we started doing things together. We read together. Shared notes together. Solved problems together. Even when our hostels were some distance apart, we were still inseparable. Even when he was the Head of the Student’s Christian Union and I, then a certified Freethinker, nothing could separate us. And, as if fate was ordering our steps, we graduated with the same class of degree, got posted to Imo State for our Youth Service together, got employed at Delta Steel Company together, was in the same office together for more than twelve years and maintained the same level of promotions.
Boy was a quintessential Engineer. One of the best draughtmen of our times. Jointly, we made the Foundry at Delta Steel Company the Design and Engineering hub for the production of machine parts and components, which kept the industrial wheel grinding through the 80s and 90s. we designed and produced crusher jaws, crusher balls, blow bars, rice haulers, dredging impellers, grader blades and many other components as parts replacements in the agricultural, construction and manufacturing sectors. M. D. Ode contributed his bits to the building of engineering in Nigeria.
Boy was my friend for 46 years and I believe he was a friend for eternity.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.

You were so good sir,so humane,so simple so kind, so open minded and you love all including me. Daddy, this day I never thought would come soon. You were filled with so much love, stories(with life’s experiences and many lessons to learn from even though some we didn’t understand at the time you told us) and lots of encouragement, you were an inspiration to me personally. I remember one of such stories; you sat Remi and I down you told us the only reason you came back home past sunset was because of the only girl you had her picture by your bedside, and how you walked a great distance to see her and now she’s the mother to your children. There are so many memories of you and your simplicity, your relationship with God and your understanding of the Bible. Daddy I believe you are in a better place, a vacuum has been created on earth, I pray we emulate The Christ you knew and live according to His ways. Words alone cannot describe your impact. Sun Re!

Bro Moses (as many of us called him) was indeed a friend who loves at all times and a brother you would love to have around you in the days of adversity.
We shared so much together while we lived together in Warri, and he visited me a few times in Lagos. His warmth, humor and knowledge of the Scriptures and Christian experience are deep and engaging.
May the Lord continue to comfort Sister Titi, the children and the grandchildren who will miss him most.

Daddy, words are not enough to express how much I’ll miss you. You are indeed a great man! These few months we spent together made me so attached to you. You were so caring and had my back. You will not go to bed till I’m back home no matter how late. Even on occasions when I travelled out of city, you will always check on me till I get to my destination and even till I return back home. I so enjoyed the father/son relationship that I’ll always look forward coming home knowing I’ll be coming home to gist and get lots of advice on how things are done and what not to do as a man. When we go out together you shared memories and history with me and even visions you had for the future. I can keep on going and going in sharing the good times we had together,But well, God knows the best time for us all to come to his eternal rest after our service for him and sojourn on earth is done.
Rest well daddy in the bosom of the Lord.

You are not just a relation but the very first son of our patriarch Chief Titus Sunday Oluwi-your Uncle. Our world was filled with your aura, warmth and love. With you the bond was pure, the blood unblemished.
Your life was of struggle and excellence. You love challenges and never ran from any. You even went a step by encouraging us to court it. I remember a cold January morning in Efo when you instructed me and very young Femi to bring something from the boot of your light green Peugeout 504. Of course ,we returned empty because we thought we can not open the car. You gave us a critical look, turned to me and handed my first childhood motivational sentence. "Nothing is easy in life". I tried again and was succefssull. "Nothing is easy in life" shouldn't have made much sense to a boy of twelve years old or less for that should be my age then but it struck. It has defined my philosophy to challenges of life.
You are a man of the extended family. A combination of cosmopolitan intelligence and native intelligence. Listening to you is always worth the stress. You say a lot with a lot of words.
We know you won't live forever at least in the physical body. But it is hard to come to term with your departure at a time like this when the family is in dire need of an authority in history of the family and one with the integrity to beat us to line. We shall miss you.
I write on behalf of the entire Oluwi family to wish you a peaceful rest. You touched us indeed in ways difficult to describe.
We thank God for given us you.
Adieu Moses Oludare Solomon...... We love you!
