My sincere sympathy goes to all of Joe's family. His life was ended far too soon, but his memory will live on. We spent five years together as best friends (1981-1986). He had a wonderful sense of humour and kept everyone entertained with his stories. He truly had a servant's heart and loved to help anyone in need. He had a deep loyalty and love for his family. His favourite place was at the lake and fishing. One weekend, my friend and I spent a few days at his trailer on his lake property. Our relaxing time was cut short with a visit from a mother bear and her cubs. When I got home and told Joe about seeing the bear, he joked and said that he had been hoping to see a bear for months, and next time, he would take me with him as bait for the bear to be attracted to. Joe and I met, and got to know each other at Sask Tel, when he was working on the Test Desk and I was answering phones for Telephone Repair. I have many happy memories of our fun times together. Warmest greetings to Barb and Linda.

My wife and I bought our house across the street from Joe in 2014 and were very promptly welcomed to the neighbourhood by him. Since then I’ve been very inspired by his kindness and the care and attention he gave to his garden and all of his neighbours. Just a few weeks ago he was asking me if I could sting up his acoustic guitar for him and get it playing nice again and I’m really sad I won’t get the opportunity to do that for him. I’m also really going to miss the conversations in the street when I would get home from work or having a casual visit to talk about yard projects.
I hope to carry on his memory by paying forward his kindness on our street by being half the neighbour he was (got to work on being more outgoing like he was though). He truly was the perfect example of a good neighbour and a friend. My condolences to the family and the rest of the folks on our street who will dearly miss him.

Having gotten to know Joe on his many coffee visits to the Flavelle household, I will miss his appetite for long talks about everything and anything under the sun! He was an unforgettable person and I send my sincere condolences out to this family.

When Paul saw the paramedics at Joe's house, he yelled at me that something was wrong and ran out to see whether he could help. So very sorry that there was nothing to be done. Paul will continue to shovel his sidewalk!
Our grandchildren loved running to see Joe and we will all miss visiting his beautiful garden and all the bird's in his many bird boxes. The tree he (mountain ash) planted in the back lane is a tribute to his love for the environment. His home was pristine and he loved his gardening. A true friendly neighbour (since moving to 6th Street in 1981) with many stories and friends up and down our street. Truly miss you, Joe. A donation to SUMtheatre has been made as you loved the outdoors and would have loved outdoor theatre. Laura, Paul Van Loon and our grandchildren, our children remember too from Adam, Lisa and Seth. RIP.

I am saddened by the news of Joe's passing. I just had a great visit with him on the phone at Christmas. Joe and I did a lot of camping and fishing together when we were younger and always enjoyed those times. Rest in peace my friend ...

I was so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing, he trained me when I first came into the service centre & it was so obvious that he was really good at what he did. We took a weekend trip out to his lake & we had so much fun, I still chuckle about it to this day. Rest In Peace Joe, you were as unique as they come, thanks for all the laughs & great stories.

So sad to hear of Joe's passing. I lost touch with Joe when I left Saskatchewan but I still have fond memories of our times together both at work and travels together. Many years of time together at Fur Lake. My condolences to Linda, Barb and family.

We are saddened to hear of Joe's passing, he was a longtime friend, neighbor, and co-worker who will missed. We spoke on the phone a few weeks ago and we were planning post-pandemic garden visits to catch up for lost time. Joe always had great stories and shared them in only the unique way he could. Our thoughts are with your families in this difficult time.

I am so shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Joe’s passing. He was truly a wonderful person and good friend. He has been on my mind for the past few days and was planning on giving him a call. I will really miss him. We used to go out for lunch quite regularly before COVID ended that, although we still kept in touch with phone calls. Please accept my deepest condolences.
