When Frances started teaching grades 9-12 in Semans, she lived with me during the week. One weekend I went with her to visit her mom in Lestock. We made apple strudel. Frances, Bill and girls came to visit my parents at the farm, at Strasbourg, on another weekend. Eventually, Bill and the two girls moved to Semans. Then, I spent a lot of time at their home. Frances became one of my best friends in Semans. When Frances and her family moved to Saskatoon, we always phoned each other. We sent each other gifts and letters on our birthdays and at Christmas. Near the end, Frances was moved to Stonebridge Crossing Retirement Community, in Saskatoon. Then, my Christmas card and my letter was returned to me. It had been sent to the Health Centre in Warman, SK. I phoned Kathy and I knew. Frances was a very good person! I loved her dearly. God bless my friend Frances Schultz! From Bertha Paproski.

Adding our thanks to Jackie for the wonderful tribute to her grandmother. Although we haven’t seen the family for a few years now, the times we have spent have been filled with many gifts. The gift of a deep enduring friendship with the Jamieson family, great chatter, warm tea, yummy goodies and just a warm feeling of being very welcome in their home.
Patrick and I send our deepest condolences to the family and join you in remembering a wonderful woman who lived a great life. She was an amazing woman - I loved hearing the stories of parts of her life I wasn’t familiar with.

I so much appreciated Jackie's tribute to her grandmother, Frances, during the live streamed funeral service today. The four dimensions of Frances that Jackie described all resonated with me. I'd like to share some insights from my relationship with Frances dating back to the 1960s. .
In 1965 I enrolled in pre-med studies at the University of Saskatchewan and went on to do my medical education there culminating with my graduation in 1971. There was a Lutheran Student Ministry program at the U of S led by Rev. Rodger Human. We held weekly worship services at the historic Rugby Chapel on the campus. Bill and Frances Schultz attended this church along with their children, Kathy and Karen. We got to know the family well and enjoyed hospitality in their home.
When the campus ministry was wound down, my wife (Lorraine) and I joined the Schultz family in transferring our membership to Faith Lutheran Church. Over the ensuing decades I got to know Frances very closely through her amazing leadership in the life of our congregation.
Sadly, the Lutheran denomination with which Faith Lutheran Church is aligned then had a rather regressive position on the roles of women in the church. However we were fortunate eventually to be served by a pastor who supported the engagement of women in leadership roles. When that door of opportunity opened, Frances was elected as the first woman to chair the Board of Directors in our congregation. I was privileged to serve on the Board during some of the years that Frances led this Board.
Through this experience I came to deeply appreciate Frances' leadership skills and her capacity to effectively engage other people in collaborative pursuit of some challenging goals.
Later in my career I offered coaching and mentoring services to people aspiring to take on organizational leadership roles in the secular world. Some of the lessons I learned from Frances informed my teaching and coaching of other people.
I would also say that, through her words and actions, Frances strengthened my Christian faith . I learned much of value from her about living out my faith on a daily basis rather than just confessing my Christian beliefs. For this, I am very thankful.
My wife, Lorraine, also deeply respected and admired Frances as a role model. When we spoke after listening to the live streamed funeral service, Lorraine recalled how Frances always seemed to be calm and unflappable when others might be more emotionally distraught about things happening in their lives. She always had a quiet confidence that difficulties could be overcome. In large part, I sense that quiet confidence was forged and sustained by her deep Christian faith.

Frances has been like a real grandmother to me for many years. As Jackie had mentioned in her wonderful tribute speech, there are many memories of Frances providing love, connection, guidance, support for education and always having an inviting home to visit with tea to offer and advice or assistance to provide.
I will miss her practical and unique Christmas packages that always gave me a giggle while reminding me of her warmth. I knew I could expect Carmex lip balm every year! When I went back to University a few years back as a single mother, she often reminded me that if I ever needed time to study alone, she would happily look after my children for a few hours. She reminded me of this offer frequently. She provided advice that a real grandmother would provide during hard times. She was a person you could look to for honesty when you needed it.
She was there for the best times as well in the last few years including my bridal shower and wedding. She really was a part of my life in the way a grandmother would be.
She truly had a gift to make anyone feel welcome and like family. I will miss very much her heartful offers of kindness, having tea with her in her kitchen, the shared family meals we joined in her home. I will forever carry a respect for her values with me as a memory moving forward. Thank you for being a big part of my life Frances.

Thank you Frances for always opening up your home and heart to everyone. You always had something for everyone, whether it was a cup of tea, a book, or that bag of trinkets and containers that Jamina and Jeehan would play with all over your carpet! We always left your company in great spirits, so thank you for the memories.

She was Ma to me. She and Pa opened up their hearts and their home to me and my family. I had lost my parents when I was younger. Kathy would bring me to family gatherings - Christmas, Thanksgiving , birthdays, etc. I felt so welcome, so loved. I remember Ma reading to my children, pulling out the craft supplies, picnics at the zoo, making snacks - being a grandma to them. She touched so many people. There will always be a piece of my heart that is part Ma. She had such a positive influence on me. I hope that I can honour her by providing a positive influence to others. Be at peace Ma. I love you. Sending much love to all of the Schultz family.

Mrs Schultz was an amazing and compassionate teacher to us at Semans School. She made the classroom brighter with her knowledge and her smile. We feel so lucky to have been her students and also to be a friend in later years. Thank you for all you have done for our family over the years. Pat and Sandra (nee Morey).

Dear Bill, Kathy, Karen and families
I remember how organized Frances was and how much work she put into many projects at Faith church. She created some wonderful Christmas concerts for the Sunday School children and made sure everyone was involved and giving it their very best. But most important of all, whenever she saw any of us in the community she always had such a warm greeting and made you feel that she truly cared about you and what you were doing. Always appreciated getting compliments from Frances as knew they were thought out and sincerely meant.
Sounds like she was an amazing mother and grandmother and so sad she had such struggles in later years but beautiful that you have
