Great woman. As a teacher at Sion in KC I was so moved by her. She then showed me the main building in Rome and was so gracious. Great lady.

Dear Sister Catherine. God bless you and may you rest in peace. You were such an inspiration to Anne and me when we were writing our family stories. We enjoyed meeting with you, especially at the many Seemann reunions in Saskatchewan and Alberta. The book that you wrote about the Seemann family story inspired us to write about our Seemann/McGurk ancestors. You will be missed. Our condolences to the surviving members of your family and to your family of the Sisters of Sion. Dan Smith (grandson to Minnie Seemann McGurk)

Sister Catherine enjoyed life and lived life to the fullest. She embraced her dreams and worked hard to fulfill them. She was dedicated to God. May she Rest In Peace.
My favourite memory of Sister Catherine was when she was telling our family about all the jam she had made one year. We commented that she must have an amazing yard and garden. That’s when she told us that all the neighbours helped by letting the fruit grown in the alley and it was God’s fruit so it was there for anyone to pick!
I guess it’s all a matter of perspective.

I had the privilege of teaching with Sr. Catherine from 1979-1987 at Notre Dame de Sion in Kansas City, Missouri. I have two vivid memories of her during that time. The first was one day, when I was a very young new teacher, ready to change the world. I had gotten to school early one morning and was sitting at my desk, feeling like a total failure. Sr. Catherine came in and gently consoled me. She then very sweetly told me, "Don't worry, Carolyn. Those children will learn despite you!"
My other fond memory was a few years later when I was expecting my first child. We were talking about some of the many questions my fourth graders had about my pregnancy. I laughed and said that it was quite a topic in our "Personal Growth" class. Sr. Catherine told me that they could learn anything they needed to know from the guppies in her fishbowl!
The eight years that I was teaching with Sister Catherine and the other sisters were a wonderful experience. She was a great blessing to our school community. Thank you for your many years of service! You were a true blessing to me and many, many others!
Carolyn

Sister Catherine was a very helpful volunteer here at Queen's House. She was a friend to all and her wit and wisdom are recalled fondly by all of our staff. She lived a rich, full life. May she rest in peace and may her family, community and friends know that she is remembered with warmth and gratitude by all.

We had the privilege of visiting with Aunt Catherine a few times at her home in Saskatoon and also in Edmonton when she visited with my parents. We appreciated the many stories of her life teaching and she shared about her studies of many different religions during the time that students from other countries and religions attended her school. She was a very dedicated child of God who loved to serve and it showed. She will be missed not only by the wonderful sisters who knew her the best but also by the many family members who loved her deeply. May God reward your service and devotion and I pray we will all follow her example of commitment to the Lord.
Her niece,
Marie Schmidt (Michaud)

It was a privilege to live with Catherine at the Wornall Community in Kansas City, Mo and drive with her daily to the Elementary School in the early 80’s. my most vivid memory among many is the day of the Library Rumble.
Catherine had completed a complete rearranging of the School Library. One day after school, she was adding final touches. I was working in my grade 4 Classroom down the hall.
All of a sudden a great Roar and Rumble was heard from that end. I ran quickly fearing the worst.
There stood Catherine, in the middle of the room, in total shock , (and amazingly unhurt).
One final added book or whatever had caused a chain reaction and everything, books and shelves, collapsed Domino style.
My sincere condolences, love and prayers to Sr. Catherine’s Sion Community, Family and friends here in Canada and sround her much travelled world. Will be with you in spirit.

Aunty Catherine was a great lady, we connected with our love of animals. She would light up when she saw my dogs and loved it when we went camping. She would come with us for a week and she liked tending the fire. My favourite memory is at the last reunion, she asked if she could hold on to my dog’s leash and pet her. Well Maggie seen another dog and almost pulled Aunty Catherine right out of chair but she didn’t let go and was giggling like crazy. Thank you to all her convent family for looking out for our aunt. We loved her and will miss her.

Aunty Catherine was a wonderful lady and her thirst for knowledge led her to many parts of the world. We had reunions often and I don’t remember her missing any even though she had to fly to Canada from Missouri where she was teaching. After she retired and moved to Saskatoon, she would come to Olds for visits during the summer and loved camping with us. We had a huge laugh (after we knew she was ok) when she was backing out of mom’s motorhome and did a drop, tuck and roll. We teased her that it was easily worth a 9 out of 10. She will be missed xoxo Thank you to her family at the convent whom she loved dearly. We thank each and everyone of you!

I remember sitting around the fire at the farm with Aunt Catherine watching all the stars and her telling great stories and wearing dad’s winter jacket as she was freezing as we all sat in shorts and t-shirts.
