My deepest condolences to Bob and family.
I knew Barb from elementary and City Park Collegiate days. I remember the many bike rides as well as the square dancing group set up by the McLeods for teenagers living on King Street and Ninth Avenue. We were both on the basketball team. Barb was an excellent player.
She was also an educator. She taught me how to make ‘real’ egg nog and how to finish off a jazzy piano piece with chords I still use to this day.
Barbara will be greatly missed by many. Although we parted ways after high school, I still have many fond memories of her achievements and kindnesses to others.

Dr Bob & family, I rarely read the paper, and seldom read the obituaries when I do. But today, while taking a break from endless hours on the computer, I sat downn in front of the Decenber 3 Star Phoenix and saw Barb's photo. It took a moment to register, then... memories flooded in, you teaching me in dental school, your exceptional professional practice, playing golf with Barb & Bert Ball in a scramble tournament @ the Willows.... She was a very special human being, woman, mother, grand mother and dear friend of many, optimistic, vivacious, and kind. The world became a better place with her in it and her world a richer place with you in it. The following thought comforted me when my Dad, and later my mom, died. We are fortunate to have loved someone so much that the pain of losing them hurts so deeply. Bless you and yours, Robert. Barb did...Ken Sutherland & family

Bob: What a coincidence. I have been writing bits of my life story and looking back through old City Park Bench yearbooks today and my brother forwards my an email about Barb’s passing. So sorry to hear. The two of you were such an inspirational couple back in high school when we shared time together on the student council, in classrooms, and as teammates. It brings joy to my heart that the two of you have had an incredible life together. Best wishes for the future. Bob (now Rob) Dill

My sincere condolences to the family of Mrs. Racine. Dr. Racine was our family dentist - me from age three to 30 I sent him a card when he retired. I have lived in Edmonton and Winnipeg before returning to Saskatoon every dentist I have seen including the Saskatoon ones remark that the filling Dr. Racine did for me as a kid was the best they'd ever seen. I always had my "ring" from the post appointment gift box picked out when I entered the exam room. I turned 56 this year, in my grade 4 picture I am proudly wearing my "pearl" dentist office ring : ) I remember Dr. Racine selling fundraiser tickets at "The Ex" we always bought them because he was selling them. By her writeup I can see Mrs. Racine enjoyed a life well-lived and was generous of her time to others. Great memories are eternal - I am sure there are many of them! Sincerely, Colleen (Burke) Ewanchyna - Saskatoon

Bob and I are shocked and saddened to read about Barb's passing. We are thinking of you, Bob, and about the girls and how hard this will be for all of you. It was a beautifully written obituary and judging from that, you will have so many wonderful memories to draw on when this initial pain is muted a bit over time. Condolences Bob and Family. BARB AND I grew up as young neighbourhood friends from the time we were 4 all through High School. I had lost touch once I moved away after university. I remember the simpler times with the friends from Ninth Avenue, the bike rides, the baseball games in the dirt of Wilson school. Barb would come to pick in the mornings and wait for me to drink my milk, which I hated, and then run with me so we wouldn't be late.
May her memory be eternal.

All started at City Park, she was Sr. Pin, Bob Sr. Watch. She was full of fun, athletic, a great City Park jiver. Many memory Kinsmen events we all shared, Waskesui was our summer playground for 50 years, her Racine-McLeod-Day clan gatherings at the lake were quality family times. She was aggressive at racquet ball and golf and could beat all of us....eh Doc. Barb was a strong mama bear for her girls.

Mrs. Racine's cabin was one of my favourites to pass by as I cut through on my many adventures at Waskesiu year after year. She always made the time to greet me from the deck on my way by. Her home in Saskatoon was always a welcoming space for everyone growing up in River Heights. I especially loved the staircase that always had a smiling Mrs. Racine at the bottom excited to see what craft or drawing her incredible girls had created with me. She was always an integral and loving part of every community she helped to build no matter where-school, kinsmen and kinette events, volunteer endeavors, and sports. I will miss you Mrs. Racine and think of you and smile in so many places I find myself....Read more

I am so sorry to read about your Mom's passing. It seems not so long ago that she was at school delivering something to you and having a visit in your classroom. Her smile would light up the room. She was always so pleasant and caring and you could feel the special bond you shared with your Mom. Vic and I had a visit with your Mom and Dad one very early morning at the airport. They were heading off to Palm Desert and we were flying off to watch our son play soccer. I am thinking of you and your family at this very sad and difficult time.
