I was very saddened by the news of this passing of Rick. I considered Rick one of my early mentors as he was actually my first boss in this industry back in the mid 1980`s at SMDC. I saw Rick at the last in-person PDAC a couple of years ago which was a great pleasure, as I hadn`t seen him for many years. We shared some stories and a cocktail. I have fond memories of Richard, and thats what counts.

I want to convey my sincere condolences to Rick’s family and friends. I was surprised and saddened to learn of Rick’s untimely passing. Over the course of nearly three decades, I had the good fortune to be a colleague, golfing buddy and friend of Rick’s. He was an intelligent, thoughtful, private person who possessed a wry and very entertaining sense of humour. While I am deeply saddened by his loss, I can’t help but smile as I recall the many great memories. Rest in peace, Rick!

I was so very sorry to hear about Rick's sudden passing.
The many conversations we had, and the times we were able to get together will be missed..
How Rick always took the time to explain "anything geology", put it in layman's terms so that anyone could understand, will be missed.
His dry, witty sense of humour that left you thinking, yup! only Rick could come up with that, will be missed.
Rick will be dearly missed by all of those that were fortunate enough to get to know him.

I was saddened to hear about Rick's passing and offer my condolences to family and friends. Rick was an incredibly savvy geologist and a familiar face around the Denison office over the years. We'll all miss Rick's dry wit and deadpan stare at meetings. Rest in peace Rick.

I offer my deepest condolences to Rick’s family and friends. It was Rick who started me on my consulting career and helped me get my start with my own business. I enjoyed my many years of working with him at Cameco and more directly for him at JNR Resources. He was always generous with his swimming pool, golf passes and Friday lunches. I considered him a mentor and true friend. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to Rick's family, friends and colleagues. I was a graduate student with Rick at McMaster University. Sadly, we went on our separate career paths, which did not cross until this morning (Dec 9/21). I reflect on Rick's passion for geology, his dry sense of humour, and his special way of letting me know I was on the wrong path - "you know Andy, there may be other ways to explain what you see". While saddened by Rick's passing, I am smiling as I watch the slide show because I see Rick lead a full life as a family person and through his impressive geological career. We all have a purpose during our time on Earth. I am pleased to see that Rick contributed to making the world a better place, Until we meet again, Andy Fyon (Ottawa, Ontario).

It was very sad to hear about Rick's untimely passing. He and I arrived in Saskatchewan around the same time in the early-80s; he at SMDC and me at SRC (later AREVA). I worked with him on some projects when he was in the Au & base metals group, and more so when he was in the uranium group, as well as when he was at JNR. He was a highly-knowledgeable geologist, hard-headed business guy, and a great person. He will be greatly missed.

I was saddened to hear of Rick's passing and ask that his family members accept my sincere condolences.
When I look back at Rick's legacy as a geologist in Saskatchewan, it is one of exciting mineral discoveries made through instinct and intuition, and the implementation of new technology from which we can use the data he helped produce to potentially lead to more discoveries.
He was a leader and an innovator.
May he rest in peace.
