Upon graduating from high school, Annette trained to be a nurse at St. Paul’s School of Nursing in Saskatoon, and graduated as an R.N. in 1949. She worked at Hafford Hospital and on a summer trip picking fruit in British Columbia, she met John Popoff of Appledale, B.C. They were married in 1951 and settled in Saskatoon. Annette worked at St. Paul’s Hospital for most of her married life and then at St. Ann’s Nursing Home. John and Annette raised three children: Jim, Christine and Patty. She became a talented visual artist taking classes in Saskatoon and Alberta. Annette won many first place ribbons for paintings she entered at the Saskatoon Exhibition. Through the years, Annette met many former patients who expressed gratitude for the care she had given them. She maintained many friendships from her years at Ospennia School, and valued the life long friendships she had developed through Nurses’ Training and through marriage. But, to Annette, her family was of primary importance and she took pride in their careers. She is deeply loved and will be forever missed.
