Verna was a friend and colleague in the Psychology department of the Calgary Board of Education. She was a loyal friend who always remembered my birthday with a gift or card. Verna directed her high intelligence toward working with children analyzing learning and social issues and directing parents and teachers toward realistic solutions. She loved solving problems and exploring new ideas. One of my favorite memories is partnering with Verna to explore Carl Jung’s theories of attitudes as applied through the Myers Briggs Personality Test with a series of workshops for teachers and staff at the Calgary Board of Education to further understanding of different personal preferences and learning styles. On a visit to England a delightful visit to Durham Cathedral was high on Wally’s and my itinerary driven by Verna’s glowing description of her childhood in Durham.
My deepest sympathy to David, Nicholas and Louise and families.

To the family of Verna Parkinson
I first met Verna whileI was teaching in Calgary and she came to our school as the visiting Psychologist . After I retired we met again out on the green strip on 66th and I found that she lived across the road from each other! We met for conversations out on the green strip while walking our dogs! As I recall her little terrier was named George! Hope that is right! I missed seeing her and wondered where she was! I’m glad she went to beautiful Saskatoon where I attended U of S and also taught there in my youth!
I know she was a clever intellectual person who set a high standard for all that she did! I always admired her! And I also share a love for mysteries!
I send sincere condolences to each of her children and grandchildren! She will be remembered with love and admiration for all her determination ,diligence and talents!
