June, Linda, Al, and families
It’s always a sad time when folks have to say goodbye to a loved one and another friend and neighbor. But there will be so many happy times to remember, too, as Linda recalled for everyone last week.
A life well lived and a person well regarded by all who knew him.
Love and hugs, Ruth Thoen

Dear Aunt June, Linda, Al and families,
"Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same."
Uncle Les passing leaves a huge hole in our family and in our hearts. It meant so much my Mom, sisters and my family that Uncle Les and Aunt June were both there for us when our Dad (Ray) passed away.
Les was a kind, caring uncle who made a difference in our family and in the community. Les, June and your families have created so many wonderful memories by hosting family reunions and celebrations on the farm, in the Colonsay Hall and then in Saskatoon.
I will cherish the memory of my last visit to Colonsay when I stayed in town with Les and June. We attended Colonsay United Church and took a Sunday afternoon car ride to look at the crops and visit Meacham - just like old times!
We're sad that we cannot all meet in person to celebrate his life. Our hearts go out to you and your families.
Sending our love,
Jan and Rod

To all of the Garner family we send our sincere condolences. We first met Mr & Mrs Garner as our next door neighbours up at Emma Lake & it was a very sad day when they decided it was time to sell their beloved trailer. They were great neighbours & they loved to go fishing & tinker around keeping everything in tiptop condition. We missed them, but to our surprise we met up with them again while visiting our two Aunties Noreen & Joyce Clayton at Preston Park ll. Mr Garner’s 1st question was “how are things going up at the lake & boy do we ever miss the place” . They soon became friends with my Aunties as they came from the farm as well.
Joyce commented that Mr Garner always made sure to keep the bottoms of the chairs in good condition.
Mr Garner was a kind gentle man & will be missed by all who had the good fortune to have met him. Hi to Mrs Garner.
Thinking of the Garner family at this very sad time. Your friends Garth & Donna Braid, Noreen & Joyce Clayton

Dear Les,
When I saw the obituary in the paper, my heart did a flip & in that moment I felt a huge loss & sadness. A big part of my childhood
was gone. You were so important to our family, there for us, for Dad, always. So many memories. I'm going to miss you; I already
do, even though we hadn't seen each other for several years. I believe I thought you'd always be there and we would catch up down the road. Give dad & mom a big hug for me. That makes me smile. Love, Maureen
Dear June,
I am so sorry for your loss. I know you will miss Les so much. Please know we are thinking of you & your family during this most difficult time. Randy & Maureen Aramenko

Dear June, Al, Linda and families,
What a long and well-lived life we have to celebrate! Al & Linda, like you, I don't remember life without your Dad in it. I feel pretty privileged to say that. My Dad could have said the same and that, too, is quite remarkable .
Most of my memories are centred around things I know Les did for us as kids but I certainly never thought about it at the time. There was that crazy toboggan run from the top of the shed, down the hill towards the barn. I expect it had some safety issues but boy was it fun!! Garners had the best treehouse in a country where trees weren't as plentiful and sturdy as they might of been. We spent hours in that tree! There was a trip to Guernsy ( I think) to get a puppy which was a very exciting day, even though is wasn't my pup. I remember Les asking the blessing at supper which, in my family, was a matriarchal duty. It was always good if the prayer was finished before the clock started to chime!
Following our move, 55 years ago, the friendship our parents shared never wavered. June, thanks to you and Les for all the love and support you showed Mom over the years. Our generation can learn much from such dedication.
The world has lost a good and faithful servant. May we celebrate Les' life with joy and thanksgiving!
Hugs to All,
Cheryl (Buyck) Wilken
