Jeannie was our children's babysitter for well over ten years. She was dependable, creative, engaging and a great cook. When I was in hospital for 9 wks waiting to give birth to our son David, she took special care of our two older sons, made meals for Allan and the boys and had time to come and visit me in hospital. She allowed Allan and I to prosper in our careers. I made special mention of Jeannie in my dissertation acknowledgement section. Jeannie was a much loved central player in our family life.
She is missed and we want to send John and his family our love and gratitude for sharing their mother and grandmother with us.
With love, Ailsa and Allan

So many of my childhood memories include Jean. From 6 months to 5 years, I spent all of my weekdays with Jean…eating her delicious homemade meals, doing countless crafts, playing in her yard, going for walks to the park, and making lasting friendships. Jean was kind, generous, genuine, and dependable, and she made us all feel like family right alongside John sr. and John jr, both of whom also made a wonderful and lasting imprint on my childhood. Long after we outgrew our need for daycare, we enjoyed our “Jeannie picnics in the park”, and visits. I am forever grateful for Jean, and the ways in which she shaped me into who I am.

Jeannie was my babysitter, she took care of myself and my two brothers. My mum reminds us that Jean potty trained all of us. I have good memories of her home on 10th street. Her husband John and her son John were always around. John Sr. had a good knack for wood working and made toys. John Jr. was in university when I was a kid and we always wanted to be around him.
Jean took care of many kids over the years. I am still friends with some of the kids from day care. As we got older it was always nice to see her out and about. She would check in and want to know how everyone in the family was doing. She was a very kind and generous person.
Seeing her obituary was surreal for myself because we were just looking for childcare for our child and it made me think of all the friends and memories I have of her daycare. Rest in peace Jeannie you will be missed.
