I'm sad to hear of Anna's death, though it seems she led a long life! I am forever grateful to Anna for introducing me to the recorder. Back in 1990 I moved from Toronto to Saskatoon, and my family bought a house next door to her and Kiva. At the time, I had no job and Anna had no recorder students. I did have an old tenor recorder, though, and so began to take lesson from her. After a time, I expanded to playing the alto and soprano as well, and we moved from teacher and student to forming a trio that played weekly at Anna's house, the third part of the trio being her good friend Tina. I will never forget Anna's kindness toward me, her encouragement, and her patience. More than 30 years later, I am as committed as ever to the instrument, on the board of the BC Recorder Society and a member of a quartet that's been together for nearly 14 years.
