Dr. Mills will always have a special place in my heart. She supported me throughout my Music Education program and we remained close for years afterwards. She will certainly be missed!

I have 2 memories of Dr. Mills. One is a class I took from her in Canadian music at the U of S. The highlight of the class was the concert we students performed at Knox United Church. We all played/sang from Canadian repertoire. Then a few years later she & I taught a workshop in Kindersley for classroom music teachers. We had great conversation on the drive out. She was so kind & gracious. I used to see her at the Kids of Note all abilities choir concerts and she always remembered me. I am sending my condolences to all of Dr. Mills' family. She was a great lady.

l met Isabelle as a young student at Brandon College in 1949-50. I visited from my home near Ninga, Manitoba, on Saturdays, eating noon meals in the Clark Hall Dining Room. Meals were offered family style, and I often sat at the table where Isabelle acted as hostess. She was kind, but also good fun, quoting lines from a well-stocked memory of verse and story. After 1961 I got to know her while I was a junior faculty member at Brandon College, later University; and after I married, she acted as a generous hostess again, this time at her apartment at 13th and Lorne.
A Saskatchewan girl, she grew and prospered at the University of Saskatchewan, completed a doctorate, and took on important responsibilities. Her special interest in Canadian music yielded a body of work that will be part of her lasting legacy. I was one of those whose mailbox was visited at least once a year with a lively account of her life during that year.
I offer my sympathies to her family and to her many friends. I feel blessed to have known her.
Lawrence Jones, DMA, Prof emeritus, Brandon University.

Dr.Mills was one of the first advisors I met when I joined the B Mus/Mus Ed program at the U of S in 1973. She was smart, determined, funny and independent. Her office door was always open to students and their concerns and I marvelled at her collection of African violets that were always in bloom.
As a member of the Quance Chorus for 4 years, I enjoyed rehearsals and performances. I always looked forward to concerts, just to see the stylish new gown that our director would be wearing. I remember being invited to a reception after a concert, at Dr. Mills downtown apartment. She was a generous hostess and it was a lovely evening that I will always remember.
She was a special lady and she will be missed.
Sincerely,
Janice (Thompson) Anderson
