It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Marie Dick at the age of 82.
Rose was born March 4, 1939 near Lanigan, Saskatchewan to George & Emma Martens. She married her best friend and love, Henry Dick, on October 10, 1959.
Rose developed her strong ethic working alongside family on the Martens farm. Her first job after high school was at the Nokomis Drug Store. Rose considered her most important job to be raising their four daughters. As a stay-at-home-Mom Rose mastered a variety of skills including hair cutting, dress making, sewing costumes, and cake decorating.
In 1975, Rose started a part time job at Sears Canada where her strong work ethic and organizational skills led to advancement. Rose’s career at Sears included various management positions overseeing several departments.
Mom was also a committed volunteer who led by example. She taught Sunday School, coordinated Zoar Church Venture Clubs, and Langham Summer programs. Mom loved figure skating and spent many hours volunteering at figure skating competitions. Hundreds of quilts were lovingly crafted and donated to Mennonite Central Committee for refugees. Mom participated on Langham Town Council, and the Langham Museum. The Grandsons also appreciated Grandma’s creativity and often looked to her for help with a variety of school projects.
Early retirement afforded Mom the opportunity to attend the Grandsons many activities. Grandma (Rose) hosted many many sleepovers complete with “Grandma’s Restaurant”. Clear Lake Manitoba was the favourite family vacation destination for many years. Mom would always made sure everyone had fun and enough food to eat.
Rose will always be fondly remembered and greatly missed by Henry, her husband of 61 years; Daughters - Tannis (Earl S.)
