It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Mitchell-Andres surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born in Saskatoon to Mildred and Albert Rostek. She spent a happy childhood in Osler, SK surrounded by a pack of cousins. There were many happy holiday dinners at Grandma Rostek’s spent playing upset the fruit basket lead by Barb.
Barb started her career with CIBC at a young age, working her way up from Bank Teller to Bank Manager over her 37- year career. She made many lifelong friendships and after her retirement in 1994 went on to start the North Retiree Funseekers. The group met weekly for coffee and Barb planned social dinners, golf tournaments and wrote the Funseekers newsletter – OH did they have FUN!
Barb was devoted to her family. She had two daughters from her first marriage. Then met Doug Mitchell at the bank when he asked her for a loan for a horse. Together for 36 years and married for 9 years.
The family spent many summers and made many memories at the cabin at Wakaw Lake made even more special with the addition of the grandchildren.
Barbara was predeceased by Mildred, Albert, Shirley (sister) Rostek and Debbie Duddridge (stepdaughter) and many Aunts, & Uncles. She is lovely survived by her beloved husband Doug Mitchell, blended family: Cheryl (Bill) Bornyk (Alexis, Bailey), Cindy Chrun (Cameron – Father: Erv), Ron (Kari) Mitchell (Robyn & Stew, Nicole & Cole, Lisa & Kyle), Dennis (Jan) Mitchell (Levi & Elisha, Josh, Paul & Mattie – Mother: Caroleen), Jeff (Penny) Duddridge (Jeremy & Sanmarie, Shawn, Ben) and 13 Great Grandchildren.
