Father, Where Art Thou Now?
Father, you are delivered from suffering and pain
You have departed us
Our tears, bittersweet, fall like rain
Warm with fond memories and burning with loss
You are finally at rest, deserved peace attained
Father, you are no longer burdened
By that earthly disease
Mortality, that fall into entropy, into decrepitude of vitality and mind
And the pain, none of which you could bear with ease
Blessed relief for you and us, the witnesses
In the end to your contending with these
Father, you were always there for us, there for me
Whether in happy times or sad, near or far, good son to you or not; whether your pride or your disappointment, united in purpose or at odds, there for you or not
No matter what, in my heart I could feel and in my mind I could see…
That you were always there, loving and caring, no matter the distance
Steady as the North star you were to us, to our family
Father, where are you now?
Above in a better place, sitting on the brink
Smiling down and watching over Victoria, Lina, Grace, Lucy and us
Watching our lives and antics, tickled pink?
Are you still there, as ever you were before?
Yes, that’s how of you I shall forever think
Watching over us as we live and love
And in our fond memories of you we shall raise glasses and clink
At those moments, looking down on us from above
I can picture you favouring us with a sly wink
Father, you have left a void, our hearts are in disarray
But you were good to us and with this goodness the hole will eventually be filled
