Burt was a great man with an even greater heart! He was always so welcoming and we loved sharing times with him at the lake. Thinking of all the family! Much love.

So sad to hear Burt has passed. We spent many years of friendship playing Crib, Kaiser and caps. We were single and carefree and worked together. We shared laughter and many good times. We both became parents and showed off our much loved children. The good memories bring comfort. May Peace be with you all. Sherry

Father, Where Art Thou Now?
Father, you are delivered from suffering and pain
You have departed us
Our tears, bittersweet, fall like rain
Warm with fond memories and burning with loss
You are finally at rest, deserved peace attained
Father, you are no longer burdened
By that earthly disease
Mortality, that fall into entropy, into decrepitude of vitality and mind
And the pain, none of which you could bear with ease
Blessed relief for you and us, the witnesses
In the end to your contending with these
Father, you were always there for us, there for me
Whether in happy times or sad, near or far, good son to you or not; whether your pride or your disappointment, united in purpose or at odds, there for you or not
No matter what, in my heart I could feel and in my mind I could see…
That you were always there, loving and caring, no matter the distance
Steady as the North star you were to us, to our family
Father, where are you now?
Above in a better place, sitting on the brink
Smiling down and watching over Victoria, Lina, Grace, Lucy and us
Watching our lives and antics, tickled pink?
Are you still there, as ever you were before?
Yes, that’s how of you I shall forever think
Watching over us as we live and love
And in our fond memories of you we shall raise glasses and clink
At those moments, looking down on us from above
I can picture you favouring us with a sly wink
Father, you have left a void, our hearts are in disarray
But you were good to us and with this goodness the hole will eventually be filled
And now in the end, I reckon that there is only one last thing to say
Goodbye. I miss you
Love, always

I knew Burt through the walking group with Glenn. He was always kind and gracious with a great sense of humour and a mischievious streak.

Burt. I'll always remember how kind, welcoming, and easy you always were to talk to. Some of my favorite chats with you took place on the deck at the lake while we waited for hummingbirds to visit your feeder. I will think of you always whenever and wherever I see a hummingbird.
I will certainly never forget our road trips to Calgary when I always got stuck in the backseat. Thankfully I was allowed to control the music as I certainly wasn't allowed to change the topic of conversation once you and Kerry got to debating politics or whatever else. Thank you for my special first visit to Banff, for Kerry, for your love for Lucy, and for all the memories. You will be missed. Much love! Xo
