I was at the beginning of my career when I first began working with Uttam as a vocational counselor. He was always helpful, graciously sharing his skills whenever I had a question, and he was also someone who I shared many a good laugh with at coffee break and lunch breaks.
His passion for racquetball led him to invite me to play on many occasions. When I did play him he showed his significant skills and ran circles around me. I once ran straight into a wall while trying to match his pace and he was a very capable caregiver as well, helping me gain my composure and clean up my scrapes.
Rest well Uttam. You made a difference and I remember you very fondly. My thoughts are with your family. You will be missed.

Uttam and I met while both volunteering for the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival. He was a committed and determined volunteer: committed to the local Jazz community and the role the festival played in the larger city and provincial communities, and determined to run his area of responsibility with the festival correctly and efficiently. Uttam was also a kind and gentle man, with a beautiful spirit and a merry twinkle in his eye. He will be missed.

I got to become good friends with Uttam through Cornerstone Pickleball. We will never forget his quiet demeanour but competitive nature as well. His little wave and beautiful smile as he left Cornerstone after two hours of fun, socializing and endless laughter will stay with me forever. We will miss Uttam, his Michael Jackson glove and his infamous serve. It was an honour and pleasure to have known such a caring man. My sympathies to all of Uttam’s family.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to Uttam's family on his passing. Uttam was my work colleague for many years and a great mentor to me when I, too, embarked on my life passion as a Career Employment Consultant. He was a very knowledgeable, kind and caring person. We shared many laughs together in the lunchroom. It was also Uttam who introduced me to the sport of Pickleball !! He was a fine athlete and a good friend. Blessings to you, Uttam.

I met Uttam many years ago playing sports - mostly beach volleyball. He was the kindest, gentlest teammate. You'll never find a better scorekeeper than Uttam. We always joked that we were a disaster without him. Even with us using a scoreboard, he was much more accurate. I enjoyed spending time with Uttam off the court. He always took the time to ask how you were (and how your family was). We'd swap stories about what we were planting in the yard. He'd often bring berries or other fruit from whatever he was growing that season for us to sample. Uttam was a fixture at our backyard windups. Like me, he was not a swimmer so we'd hang out in the shallow end of the pool playing badminton. He excelled at racquet sports, so it was a win-win for us to be paired up together! Uttam was infamous for all the amazing food he'd bring to our get togethers. At the end of the night, we'd always trade left overs. He'd send me home with all the delicious samosas and chutneys and I'd pack up whatever I brought, especially if it was dessert. He had a bit of a sweet tooth ;)
I had the pleasure of meeting Uttam years and years ago playing wallyball at the River Racquet Club. Though we were not on the same team at the time, even then he was someone you just wanted to sit down and have a conversation with. He touched so many in the sports community. In his quiet way, he was the brightest ambassador for sportsmanship. I will miss you Uttam more than you will ever know. Thank you for the great experiences and memories. Til we meet again my friend.

I was shocked to hear of Uttam's passing. Uttam and I had a special bond, he was my Career Counsellor many years ago and then hired me as a newly graduated student. Had it not been for his confidence in me I would not be in the career I am today. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work with him. He helped me and many others and will never be forgotten. My condolences to his family and friends.

We have very fond memories of Uttammama from our trip to India. We remember lively discussions (and arguments) about Indian and Western politics on the beach in Goa and during our long car trips. He also had fun playing with our then 3 month old daughter, Kareena! He was very kind and soft spoken. Always happy with a smile on his face and ready to help. With deepest condolences from Ashok, Stephanie, Kusum, Victor, Karin, Kareena, Sonia and Siddharth.

I worked with Uttam years ago when he was the CanSask consultant to the program that I coordinated - he was instrumental in those early years in ensuring that the program was supported and funded. He was such a gentle, powerful force. May his memory continue to be a blessing.

Deepest condolences to all Uttam's family and friends. We had the pleasure of living next door to Uttam and the family from 1981 to 2017. We have such great memories of watching the girls grow up. We had the best babysitters for our son. John and Uttam spent many hours discussing snow removal and drainage for the Spring melt and heavy rains. Uttam took such pride in his yard and we enjoyed watching his flowers bloom and enhance our neighborhood. Uttam was a "gentleman "...always kind and friendly....everything one could ask for in a good neighbour. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him. John and Jeanne Burbage

When I learned of Uttam's passing I was both shocked and deeply saddened. For over two decades I had the privilege of having Uttam as both a work colleague and a friend. It is comforting and encouraging to read a tribute to a life well lived and be able to say , " yes, that is the man that I knew as well! ". His kindness, curious nature , energy and genuine willingness to help will be missed. For many years Uttam was a regular coffee partner and our conversations and sometimes debates on politics, religion, economics will be missed. Knowing Uttam certainly added to value to my life. More importantly it was evident how much Uttam valued and loved his family, particularly his girls. My deepest sympathies on saying goodbye to your dad. I hope many fond memories will come to mind that will feel like a warm hug and bring smiles to your faces.....Curt Bolan
