It is with great sadness I write these condolences to Rory, Andrew, Annalise, Marion and Vivian. Your father and brother Donald was a life long true best friend. It is rare to find a friend that touches your life as you touch his for over 5 decades
From the growth of elementary school and high school with all the antics that go with the escapades as teenagers that started the fond memory trail to young men
the living together at university where we transitioned with Ken and Gregg to manhood and responsibilities and more fond memories of those days
then the continued friendship as we all married and had various careers but still stayed in touch. The ease of continuing a conversation even if there was months between them.
the laughter good times or bad we had each others backs always. As coworkers at CP Rail we became brothers in the railway world.
It seems like yesterday when we had coffee in Moose Jaw last fall. Catching up on what we both had done. The talks about your k
children, family , our careers the plans you had for retirement and the cabin. The plan to bring my boat up and have some great fishing and make more memories
you were a great friend and buddy , room mate and coworker
all our interactions helped shape who we became later in life
Friends like you Don can usually be counted on one hand and I am proud we were friends
Rest in peace Don friend and brother

Rory, Andy, Annalise, Marion, Viv and family. We were so saddened to hear of Don’s passing. He was someone that thru the years we spent time with enjoying the lake from young children and into our adult years. We had special times throughout our lives attending family weddings, a family favourite the pancake breakfasts and barbecues. Don will truly be missed.

I have a heavy heart as I write these condolences to Rory, Andrew, Annalise, Marion and Vivian. Your father and brother Donald was and is a true best friend. Over the past 54 years we spent many good times together going through all the best parts of growing up and becoming men. School, learning to drive, Militia training, DeMolay training, army camp, survival camp, work for the railroad, living together at University, marriage(best men), and comparing work, families and yes looking ahead to getting together more often in retirement. Every time I looked to my side during the formative years there was Hans. He provided me a rock, somebody to depend on and report to on how my life and family was going, One of those friends that you never need to thank for being there for you. The conversation never ended it just was put on hold until we met the next time, no explanation needed or expected just carry on. I did not envision this end to our friendship and I have had a hard time accepting it but as Hans would say oh come on Ken just keep going. So finally Hans Thank you for being you and being there for me. Rest in Peace my friend.

Dear Annileas Rory and Andy
We were very shocked and sad to hear of your Dad’s passing.
We both enjoyed Don and his easy smile. Do you remember coming to visit us and we got into a big water fight just before you left? You guys were not very old then.
Your dad forgot his coffee thing here and it almost drove him crazy with out it. That’s a coffee nut for ya.
I am so sorry you are having to go through this at such a young age. It seems so surreal and foggy, at least to me it did. You will have a big hole in your heart for a long time.
However, I sincerely hope that the
good memories of your dad will stay close
To your heart and help fill that void.
May he Rest In Peace. I will say a prayer for his soul and for all of you as you navigate through this sad journey.
Linda and Richard Walde.

Don was a character! He "was one of the good ones" people are heard saying now. It's so nice to meet someone like Don these days, I didn't know him very well but we worked together in the same Leisure facilities for the last several years. I always enjoyed his short company, or even exchanging a quick Hello in the hallways. He wasn't one you would ignore or wanted to for that matter! He was a nice guy, a friendly guy and one that I will truly miss working with.

Rory, Andy and Annalise - we are so sorry for the loss of your father and our friend. Don had such a love of music, and made the very best mix tapes! I remember Christmases in Winnipeg when he would dress up as Santa for all you kids, make noises like he was on the roof and then surprise you all in the house. He had such a good sense of humor!
Mike was so glad to run into Don after we moved to Winnipeg -- a friendly face from James St., Palliser Heights, and Central Collegiate days. Don took us in and our families had lots of good times together in Winnipeg.

Dear Rory, Andy, Annalise, Marion & Dave and your family, Viv & Keith and your family,
Wanted to reach out to all of you to let you know how profoundly sad I too am at the loss of your dad, brother (in-law) and uncle. I didn't see Don often and usually at family gatherings where one on one conversations are brief. I am blessed to have shared a couple of hours with Don on the bus to and fro Joel and Erin's wedding. We shared a wonderful time catching up on our lives and opening up our hearts to each other as loving cousins do. It is a memory I cherish.
I saw Don as a quiet guy with a quick smile, deep laugh, and who spoke of his deep love and pride in his children. Don walked to the beat of his own drummer - a rare gift.
My deepest condolences to you Rory, Andy and Annalise in the loss of your dad and to Marion and family, and Viv and family in the loss of your brother.
Please know my love and prayers are with each of you.

Kwa Familia yote,
Poleni sana kwa kifo cha Baba na Kaka yenu.
Mungu wape amani kwa wakati huu wa huzuni.
Don alikua mtu mzuri sana,na mwenye kupenda watu bila kubagua.
Mwenyezi Mungu anajua, moyo wangu umefathahika, kwa kifo chako.
Machozi ya tiririka, niki waza juu yako.
Pumzika kwa amani kipenzi changu.
Mwenyezi mungu akuweke pahali pema peponi na malaika wake.
AMINA.
