Obituary of Cindy Mae Litman

When mother, daughter, friend, passionate animal lover, and exceptional nurse Cindy Litman, left us on March 9^th  2021, in Saskatoon SK, she had tried and dreamed of more in her life than most of us ever think to dare.

 

She is immediately survived by daughters Jessica and Allison Litman, (former) spouse Jay Litman, mother Shirley Kulyk, brother Charles Kulyk, sister Michelle Kulyk, sister-in-law Zoe Litman, nieces Claire and Emma MacDougall, her adored puppies Cyn, Millay, and Avi, and extended relatives the Brunwald, Nachtegaele, and Kulyk families. Cindy was predeceased by her father, Steve Kulyk and mother in law, Rose Litman.

 

Born in North Battleford Saskatchewan on Nov. 19^th, 1957, Cindy was all ‘Kulyk’ - passionate, stubborn, hard-working, generous, mischievous, uncompromising and unafraid of life. Her family moved to Saskatoon where Cindy attended public and high school - her life busy with cheerleading, football games and sewing.

 

Cindy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan. Her professional career was impressive and diverse including: Nursing Unit Coordinator at Royal University Hospital, Nursing Supervisor with Saskatoon District Health Home Care, Clinical Drug Trial Nurse, and patient educator with Saskatoon City Hospital.

 

After 20 years in Saskatoon, Cindy moved with her family and pursued an incredible career in Los Angeles where she worked ‘saving the stars’ as an OHS Nurse at Warner Brothers Studio. She then dedicated her professional focus and abilities at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as an RN III in the Department of Neurosciences. Cindy also obtained an Ugandan Nursing License and took part as a volunteer at the Complex Spine Camp at Mbarara Hospital in Uganda. Of this time, Cindy was most passionate and proud. 

She held in high value her peers, her patients and her profession.

 

As a mother, daughter, friend, peer and sister, Cindy injected daily life with joy, good food, fun, art, refinished antiques, fabulous clothing and funky shoes. With colour, vibrancy and polka dots, Cindy made anything and any place beautiful. Her children will cherish memories of stealth missions to liberate neighborhood fauna, mani-pedi dates, binge watching psychological dramas, the glow of candlelight, and a fierce interest in and allegiance to their friends.

Cindy experienced the world with trips across Canada from Nova Scotia to Vancouver Island; then globetrotting with her daughters creating treasured memories.

 

A family service was held, and a Celebration of Life will be once restrictions are removed.
