I just learned today of Geoff’s death and I am very sad to learn this. My deep sympathies to Barbara and to his family. He was a warm and generous colleague in Regina and a fine writer.

My heartfelt condolences to you Barbara on Geoffrey’s passing. Geoffrey was in my Parkinson’s exercise class at the Field House. I so enjoyed both of you. You were a pleasure to share good company with as we went round and round the track. Geoffrey was very fortunate to have such a supportive partner. And you Barbara were equally fortunate to have such a kind loving husband. My thoughts are with you.

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Geoffrey. Geoffrey was the first ( I think) Writer in Residence at the Saskatoon Public Library. I met him then. He was a loyal supporter of the Saskatoon Heritage Society and along with his wife, Barbara, would attend the Society's annual luncheon. They sat at the same table as Don and Mildred Kerr. With the passing of Don Kerr, there will be two empty chairs at our next gathering - such a sad loss. I also crossed paths with Geoffrey and Barbara when attending readings by the sci -fi novelist, Robert Sawyer, at McNally Robinson Bookseller. One time we adjourned to the pub at Grosvenor Park Shopping Centre and had a great time.
Geoffrey was always so kind and friendly whenever I met him. That is how I will remember him.
To Barbara and family, my sincere condolences. May "Saskatoon Pie" live on! .

I took a class on Joseph Conrad from Geoff at the U of Regina in the early 1980s - one of the best classes I ever took. I’ll always remember how thoughtful and intelligent he was, with such a gentle sense of humour. My sincere condolences to the family.

A lovely, generous, incisive, thinker and artist has left us and we are richer for what he left and poorer for his passing. I have so many fond memories of the exuberant joyousness of Barbara and Geoffrey’s “Saskatoon Pie”. I have no doubt he is spreading that warm, joyful, spirit in a new rehearsal hall even now.

Farewell Geoffrey. Kathy and I have shared so many glorious times with you and Barbara. From the early days at 25th St. Theatre and Persephone Theatre, to the t.v. series Prairie Berry Pie. Our community will miss you, but I know, in the creative space you now occupy, when the voices around you desire to do a show, they will need a writer, They will naturally ask the question 'Is There Anyone Here From Moose Jaw?', and the answer will come..."Why yes..yes there is".

I have only happy memories of Geoffrey. He and Barbara were the first couple I met when I moved to Saskatoon. It was at a table filled with writers at a pub in Grosvenor Square watching the Blue Jays win the World Series. I got to know them both quite well over my time at the SPC and working on Martha’s books. Geoffrey was so kind and patient, with a calming presence - yet always a twinkle in his eyes. I treasure my chats with him. He was a true gentle man and will be missed. I am sorry for your loss, Barbara. May you find comfort in loving memories. Sincerely, Margaret Kyle (Vancouver BC)
