Milton Porter

Obituary of Milton Benjamin Porter

Dad was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan to Ralph and Ethel Porter. He married Shirley McLaren on February 15, 1958.

Dad loved to hunt, fish, cut wood, play cards and garden. He was a dramatic story teller who loved to tease. All of his kids and grandkids had nick names. By many he himself was better known as Barney, Polecat or High Blade. He was quick witted, sensitive, protective, generous and welcoming.

Dad worked hard his whole life and was able to retire at age 60 from the RM of Pleasantdale, Sk. He enjoyed 20 years of retirement with mom that were healthy, active, serene and happy. After moms passing in 2015 dads remaining years were quiet, peaceful, loved and cozy. He loved having his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and friends visit. Much pleasure was taken by us all with a cup of coffee and a warm fire. Dad lived in his home right up until the day he died with our sister Karon as his primary care-giver. For that we are all so grateful.

Dad is predeceased by his wife, Shirley; son, Larry; and grandson, Waylon (Willie). He was the remaining living member of his family of origin and was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Robert (Bob) and Dale; and sister, Faye.

Dad leaves to cherish his memory his 6 kids, Sheila, Sharon (Kurt), Karon, Daryl (Lynnette), Dennis (Rhonda), Dwayne (Gwen); 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many friends like "Big Francis" and "Handy Andy"; as well as a whole community.

No funeral services are able to be held at this time. Dad was cremated and brought home where he will rest and until he can be permanently laid to rest in the Pleasantdale, Sk Cemetery.

My sister Sheila said "Dad went to school one day for his sister Faye and one day in the hospital". ☺
