Dennis Couzens posted a condolence

Dennis Couzens (YMCA Past Staff & Volunteer) - I met Muriel about 1990, when she came to the Y for Aquafit Classes. She came with a few neighbors (one being Margret Podilsky, and one other)
I recruited her to be an Aquafit Instructor/volunteer. She really enjoyed participating in the instruction and training to keep her skills up. She was a positive force in the pool - showing others that older adults could give back & had lots to offer. She lead by example & encouraged others to join the volunteer ranks ( Katie Dueck, Keith Ziegler, Harold Tatler)
She instructed for about 25 years, until her health took a turn. She was a joy to partner with to make the Y a place for all. I was never able to convince Bill to participate.
She will be missed and remembered

My sincerest condolences to Muriel’s family on the loss of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother. It was my pleasure to get to know Muriel as a friend through her volunteer leadership at the Y in the Aquafit program. She was an exemplary leader, innovative, committed, encouraging and always caring. Her warm, sunny personality made the Y experience an enjoyable and beneficial experience for all the participants. She was certainly missed when she could no longer attend the Y as she truly exemplified all the Y ideals in her actions and left it a better place.
Katie Dueck.
