We are all so sad to hear about Len's passing. We have so many precious memories and good times to remember. As a family we spent many summers with Len and Shirley and family camping in Osoyoos. Len was quite the carpenter, building their tent trailer and building paddle boards for the kids to play on and the adults to paddle across the lake. Len loved to cook and we will always remember his meals made on the greasy spoon. Len loved his sports! Len and I would talk several times a week regarding upcoming baseball, curling or football games, often make bets of who would win! Some times we talked during the games, rehashing the plays. He would often call to remind me the Blue Jays were playing. I will sure miss his phone calls. My deepest sympathies to my Sister Shirley and all the family. Love Hazel.

So deeply saddened by the passing of Dear Uncle Len. I am so thankful for all the great memories. Growing up on the farm three hours away from Saskatoon we always looked forward to the brown station wagon powered by Uncle Len coming down the lane pulling the old yellow skidoo. Uncle Len was a great uncle always interested in what everyone was doing with their life, passing on genuine words of wisdom. I do remember him and my Dad getting into all sorts of trouble. Whether it was hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling or camping trouble seemed to surround them. I think Uncle Len was always the one with that heavy foot on the floor with the quiet down signal to us kids downstairs. However, the card game up above was ALWAYS way noisier than the kids in the basement. So many great memories of a special Uncle. Cherish each and every memory.

Our sincere condolences to Shirley and family. Len's obituary brought out many thoughts of our association during our construction years, our lunches together and off course can't forget about all the coffee's together with our long time group.
May the memories stay with us forever and may Len rest in piece.

To the Family of Len Welk,
I had the pleasure of getting to know Len along with Glen and his group of hunting friends from Wisconsin for many years.
His cheerful disposition, his laugh and his love of music.
My favorite memory of Len was when he spontaneously broke into the singing of
"How Great Thou Art"
To your family I wish you peace in this most difficult time, and Len, may you rest in peace.

Cheers to Len:
This is a memory repeated on most cherished hunting trips to Canada over the past many years.
Days as good as they get. Late into the night digging pits for the morning hunt. Up early in the dark, out for the hunt, back to Len's tailgate for his homemade wine and a snack, and his take on the hunt.
Len's scouting for hours midday to insure the best hunt possible for the Americans.
Great dinner after the days hunt, Len's choice of his red or white wine in large carboys. (it got better each year) Then after little more wine or wiser's,,,,,,, the essence of who Len was unfolded in hours long discussions of world events, and his optimism for the future.
Len was rooted in his faith and a desire to do the best he could for all of God's creation.
I am blessed to have shared time with him. A life well lived, Rest In Peace my Friend.
Thanks to Shirley for sharing Len with us. Jack

Dear Shirley and family.
Len certainly was an active fellow. I knew Len as an always smiling, type A, ambitious friend. Last time I saw him was at the Wildwood Golf Course looking well and heading out for a late fall round.
Please accept my condolences and the few events in past years that we experienced with you both.
Sincerely,
Raymond Penny

I'll always cherish the memories made at the lake/cabin. Taking us kids out fishing, or for tube rides with the boat. Even down to the little things like going down to the beach and starting a fire for the evening, and if things were wet they would need a few splashes of gas to get things going. These nights would almost always lead to stories about the Sturgeon Monster, a giant sturgeon who has lived in Sturgeon Lake for as long as time. To look up at the stars and constellations on these evenings was common. I will always cherish these memories. One of the last summers we spent up there as kids we went out on the boat for the Canada Day fireworks celebration. We all got in that boat, maybe 7 or 8 of us and I could have swore the thing was going to sink but of course it never did. Time spent with family is like none other... Thank you for all the memories Grandpa.

I always wanted more time with Grandpa. There’s so much to learn, and we always had so much fun. He showed me what being a family man was. Everyone has responsibilities but you’ve got to make time for your family.
We will always remember Grandpa’s generous nature. He was always willing to offer time, help, or advice. There was always time after any task for a drink, a snack and a story.
Grandpa, your infectious laugh will never be forgotten. You will be missed.

Dad’s joy was building from scratch. Besides our home, he built us a go cart (with rack and pinion steering!) from an old gas powered washing machine engine, our first tent trailer and wood/fiberglass paddle boards. He believed anyone could buy something, but to be able to build it – that was an accomplishment and source of pride. As the eldest I was always part of these build projects and thank my father for the gift of this wisdom and knowledge
