Rose Mernickle (Prystupa-Kosmynka)
March 29, 1933 - December 3, 2020

With hearts full of indescribable grief, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Rose Mernickle (Kosmynka nee Prystupa), at her daughter Donna’s home surrounded by love and family. Rosalia was born at home in Lorenzo, Saskatchewan, to Nicholas and Paraska Prystupa. She was greeted by five brothers and two sisters. She was followed by two brothers and one sister. She received her schooling in Lorenzo and married Michael John Kosmynka when she was only 17 years old. She started married life in Prince Albert, where she gave birth to Carol, Sharon, Brenda, and her only son Michael. They moved to the Kosmynka family farm near Blaine Lake, where Donna, Karen, and Rosemarie were welcomed to the family. After farming for several years, the family moved to Saskatoon where they continued to live, except for a couple of years of residing in Britsh Columbia.

Rose was predeceased by her son Michael Kosmynka, daughter Sharon Friesen, parents, husband Mike, brothers Stanley, Mike, Fred, Bill, Edward, and Steve, and sister Olana Banks. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters Carol (Ben) Herman, Brenda (Garry) Sheldon, Donna (Peter) Buchner, Karen Kosmynka

(partner Steve Draude), and Rosemarie Kosmynka. Also mourning her passing are her 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, sisters Mary Kwas, Cassie Friesen, and brother Peter

Prystupa. All of her life-long friends, nieces and nephews, in-laws and neighbours, will feel her absence in their lives. We could write a novel detailing our mother's memorable life story, but that would not be what she wanted us to do. She was a humble, spriritual, and devoted woman who shied away from recognition and fanfare.

The family would like to thank the health care community for assisting in having our mother come home for her final hours.

For those so wishing, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Communion International Canada: info@gcicanada.ca

Due to covid restrictions, her funeral service is for immediate family only. It will take place on Saturday, December 5, at 1 p.m. and will be live-streamed.
