It was a sad day in Saskatoon when we learned of Thelma's passing. She was a wonderful person with many talents and was so willing to share her knowledge. I knew Thelma through Grace-Westminster United Church and she was often my partner at bridge, a game we both loved.
I will miss my visits with her at Amy McClure House. She just beamed when I walked in and made me feel like a celebrity when in fact, she was the celebrity and had so much knowledge and wisdom to impart.I particularly enjoyed our political discussions and found her to be so honest, interesting, and well informed. I will miss her very much. How much more difficult it must be for her children to accept such a great loss.
I know that friends like Thelma can never be replaced.
May her memory live on and inspire others to be so kind, caring, and loving.

I have known and admired Thelma Pepper for most of my life as a neighbour on Temperance Street and as a member of Grace-Westminster United Church and Saskatoon Nature Society (formerly Saskatoon Natural History Society).
I was particularly lucky to have Thelma serve as my Sunday School teacher at Westminster United Church back in the 1960s. She encouraged my interests in science in her lessons by introducing discussions about proposed scientific hypotheses for explaining biblical events such as the parting of the Red Sea. In later years, I enjoyed talking to her after services at Church.
I have also known Thelma as a botanist and birder with the Nature Society. She and I have served on the board of the society and participated in many field trips together. She accompanied me on a week-long Nature Saskatchewan tour that I organized to Churchill Manitoba.
I hold fond memories of this great lady and look forward to the upcoming exhibit of her photography at the Remai Modern art gallery.

Thelma was always interested in what you were doing. She would ask a lot of questions, and from each answer she would paraphrase back to you, showing she was listening. From that, there were always more questions. It made one feel like a star, or someone very important. I looked forward to having Thelma for dinner when she was able, knowing that I would have the special feeling.
She was also an open book, and answered any question asked of her, and thanked you for each one. It is my believe that she didn't like much attention but when you were investigating her history, and reasons for doing what she did, she was also up to the task.
She will be missed.

I have many memories of Thelma and Jim while growing up in Saskatoon. With my father being a long time colleague of Dr.Pepper and our family intersecting for family outings I got to know Thelma quite well. Son Bob and I had a few play dates. Thelma’s accomplishments are something to behold. A great role model and wonderful wife and mother. My condolences to her family. A life vey well lived.

Our 2-week family holidays in Prince Albert National Park always involved a lot of time on the tennis court. We were thrilled to meet up with the Pepper family, and spent many happy hours playing against and with - the Bruces and the Peppers. Mrs. Pepper was a steady and crafty player as I recall. I also remember visiting the Pepper cabin, perhaps on a rainy day, a place filled to the brim with books. Thelma was a gracious hostess and a great listener. To see her success in later years was truly wonderful, and when last I saw her, just a few years ago, she still remembered me and my family. I'm so grateful to have known this lovely lady, and will always cherish happy memories of her. And to her family, may your happy memories sustain you in this sad time.
