Obituary of Evelyn Catherine Vindeg
Evelyn’s family is sad to announce that she passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the age of 95. She had been a resident of Stensrud Lodge, in Saskatoon, for many of her final years.
Her parents, John and Elizabeth Maalerud; former husband, Marvel; siblings Jim, Irene, Kay, Bob, and Margaret; and son, Lyle, predeceased her.
Her loving family survives her: Children, Allan Vindeg (Linda), Roland Vindeg (Marlys), Joanne Kuruliak (Randy) and daughter-in-law, Yvette Vindeg. She cherished her 8 grandchildren, Kevin, Kimberly, John, Stephanie, Nicole, Angela, Steven and Lee and 17 beautiful great- grandchildren.
Mom was born June 15, 1925 at White Bear, Saskatchewan. She married Marvel Vindeg in July 1943 and they farmed at Demaine, Saskatchewan raising their family until 1965 when they moved to Saskatoon. Her life work was as a farm wife and mother.
Mom’s pride and joy was her family, and her life was very enriched when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were around her. They were all perfect in her eyes. Unfortunately, advanced dementia, did not allow her to enjoy the youngest of the little ones. We all cherished her beautiful sewn patchwork quilts and looked forward to her homemade buns at family gatherings. For pastimes she enjoyed square dancing and listening to old time music on the radio. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff at Stensrud Lodge, 2nd floor, West Wing, for their wonderful care of Mom and keeping her safe during pandemic conditions.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, no funeral is planned but a memorial/burial to take place in the spring of 2021.
