Willy was one of my first friends, and always had the kindest “hello, Seth, my friend” for me no matter whenever I saw him. There are few kinder people that I can think of, and his kindness to others is something to aspire to. While it had been a very long time, I will never forget how much I loved this man. He loved his family, and my heart goes out to them. I know what it is to lose someone like this. Someone who inspires you and shows you that the hard way is often the right way. Rest in peace, Willy.

Willy was such a friendly kind man. In the early 90’s I’d see Willy every weekend at the Lions arena when I’d take my small children to the rink for public skating. He always made a point of saying hello and asking how my children and I were doing. He went above and beyond the regular business owner in his customer service skills. In the summers we’d see him at various locations around the city and he always remembered who we were and we’d catch up on how everyone was. More recently, a few years ago I once again ran into Willy at Archibald arena, now with my grandchildren, and he remembered me from years ago. Such a kind and thoughtful man. I was so very saddened to hear of his passing and send my most heartfelt condolences to the family. He will be most sadly missed.

Doug, myself and all of the staff at Bazaar & Novelty are very sad to hear of the passing of Willy. It was always a time of joy when Willy walked in, sharing a few jokes and stories. He will be dearly missed. Sincere condolences to Gloria & Family.
I am always reminded of the time I was a young man delivering concession supplies some time in the late 90's and met Willy. One delivery, we somehow we got to talking about Jalapenos, and I had told him that there was a couple cases of expired ones at the warehouse that didn't sell, and he could have them. He definitely wanted them. So next time when I delivered them he cracked open a can and gave one to me, and said "try it, try it," I obliged and then he said "see, tear of joy" from how spicy it was. We had a good laugh and Willy always brought joy.
Rest in peace my friend.

Our most sincere condolences to your entire family. Your warmth, sincerity, and smile will always be remembered. Every time I would see you, you would always smile and say hello and take the time to ask about our family, and tell me about how proud you were of all your kids and grandkids. You had a way of making people feel welcome and clearly you passed that down to your children. From Harry Bailey to the skating rinks and outdoor pools you will be remembered always.
Sincerely,
Sue, Mike, Courtney and Michael Kapustianyk

Willy was always so warm, kind and genuine! He always had time to say hello, ask about the family and update us on his ever growing family. He loved his family so much and was proud of each one of his children. Over the years, Troy and I were welcomed into the Rodriguez home for so many family celebrations. You were always treated like one of the family. There was always a hug and the warmest welcome! We will miss you Willy! You are one of a kind! We will never forget you - it was always a pleasure to be in your company! Sincerely, Troy, Janaya and boys.

I had the honour and pleasure of working for Willy for many years at the concessions and with mini-mix. He was always a good and fair boss. He filled the room with his outgoing personality and is surely well-known to anyone who ever went to a rink or swimming pool in Saskatoon. A true Saskatoon Celebrity. He will be very dearly missed.
