My sincere condolences to the entire Pitzel clan, so sorry to hear of Harry's passing. I would have attended the funeral however just found out about it from reading the newspaper and of course it was too late. Harry was indeed one of a kind, not only his large stature but also his jovialness.. His giggle and laugh while trying to get you to see the other side of the argument was always humorous and usually the big bugger was right. We had several canoe trips together and always had a good time. He cursed me for years for bringing a large block of cheese along, which had an undesireable effect on him, for a few days. The last one was with our sons; Stephen & Paul , north of La Ronge on the Churchill River system. Whenever canoeing with Harry and he was in the back of the canoe, I felt about 2 feet above the water and had to stretch to hit the water with my paddle, sometimes just fanning the surface of the water. He displaced many a cubic feet and with every one of his strokes I would feel myself and the front of the canoe lift above the water, such strength. I know he will leave a large void in the family and I am sure you will cherish his episodes and memories of him, forever.

My very sincerest condolences to the family of Harry (Mr. Pitzel). It was with great sadness that I only learned of his passing from my sister, in Bjorkdale, who was also a student of Harry.
He got me into the Militia in grade 9, so we would travel together to Melfort every Saturday. He was not only the finest teacher I ever had, but the only adult male figure I ever had as a positive model of what a man could and should strive to become. He gave me direction at a stage in my life when I needed it.
I truly loved Harry and will always remember him.
The world was blessed with his presence.
“ Unable are the Loved to die
For love is immortality”
‘Twas I that called Harry that evening before Christmas.

Dear Henriette and family.......I just saw Harry's obituary in the Tisdale Recorder. I am so sad to hear of his passing. I first got to know Harry through 624 Tisdale Air Cadet Squadron of which I was the CO at the time, and I believe one or 2 of the boys attended. Harry came on board as a much welcomed officer in our group. I consider Harry as a true friend. He was always so willing to help and loved people. I fondly remember the hospitality Harry and Henriette showed when I stopped by after our weekly Squadron evening was over. Harry had a great sense of humour and made events fun. What a great man to work with!. One funny moment was when we were setting up a map exercise for the cadets in the bush at Round Lake, Harry came walking back with a big red bag on his head. He said it was near hunting season and he didn't want to be mistaken for a moose! Probably good thinking on his part (as usual) but was comical just the same. Harry was truly a great man. His family will miss him dearly. My regret is not being able to stay connected with Harry and Henriette over the years. I will never forget Harry and the relationship that we once had. My heartfelt condolences to your family. We are all proud of Harry. Bob Baumgartner Saskatoon

I was CEO for the North Sask Div. of the Corps of Commissionaires and worked with Harry for 12 years. The Commissionaires were very fortunate to have Harry in charge of our educational Training Staff and courses that were contracted to various Clients in Saskatoon and northern parts of the province. Big Harry was a natural; very capably relating to the various ethnic backgrounds and age groups.
I loved to discuss politics with Harry as he was very passionate with his political beliefs. It was good natured teasing and Harry knew I purposely "got him going".
I never knew that Harry was very talented in music voice and instrument. We had a kazoo office band for fun and stress relief purposes. Harry kept his musical talent a secret. He would have been a huge bonus kazoo player!
Henriette, cherish the memories they last forever. Condolences to the family.

I will always remember the many conversations we had regarding teaching in general and teaching English. Uncle Harry knew so much about so many things! I will always remember our camping trip to Greenwater that we did when mom was in England. I was reading one of my trashy romance novels and Uncle Harry wanted to know what I saw in them so he grabbed it from me and started reading it out loud: right at the part where it was comparing the guy to a stallion. I remember those chuckles of his and the teasing. I think he may even have called Kelsey my stallion after he first met him. Love you Uncle Harry. Going to miss those conversations and your chuckle.

Harry was always a fun loving and caring man. He was the best Husband Father and Grandfather and to me Father in law. He always went above and beyond for me and his Grandkids. To me he always took those roles seriously and by doing so he was admirable and dependable. He was a human with integrity. A rock to so many. Sending love to you Henriette and to all your family. I’m so sorry for your loss. He was a gem and will be truly missed. Love Peggy Mitchell.
