Obituary of Keith Arthur Peberdy
Keith Arthur Peberdy
1930 - 2020
Keith was born in Saskatoon on June 28, 1930 to parents William Arthur (Art) and Babe Anne Peberdy
Keith attended Albert Elementary School and City Park High School. He enjoyed and excelled in gymnastics, track, hockey and football. He was very active with the YMCA sports programs
Following high school, Keith worked for his father at W.A Peberdy & Son Construction Company and played football for the Saskatoon Hilltops (which he later coached and became a director).
In 1954, Keith married Audrey Lamb. For the first year of their marriage they lived in Chicago where Keith was completing a degree in Building Construction. They then moved back to Saskatoon, built their home and had three boys – Bruce, Brian and Scott.
Despite Dad’s passion for sports, he eventually took over the family construction firm. Dad was active in the Kinsmen Club and the Saskatoon Construction Association, serving both associations as president and coaching in the Kinsmen Hockey League. Dad became a life member of the Saskatoon Construction Association in 1991. Mom and Dad enjoyed the community involvement of these organizations and met many longtime family friends.
Waskesiu was a special place for Dad and Mom. It provided a sense of community spirit, family outings and relaxation. Dad grew up going to the lake and was one of the originators of the new, larger cabins when sewer and water was approved. He spent many hours at Adams Lumberyard to construct the existing family cabin which replaced his Dad’s (Grandpa’s) version.
Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling; taking many trips together or as a family. Dad loved to go for coffee and put saccharine packages in his coffee so he could have dessert. Napkins often served as sketch pads for building details and there was not a jacket pocket of his that did not have a pencil or saccharine packages in it. Dad will also be remembered for having a quick quip or corny joke at the ready.
Keith passed away peacefully on October 25, 2020 at his residence in the Sunny Side Nursing home, after enduring many years of dementia.
