It is always difficult to say goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Stanley Nowakowski passed away on September 29, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Special Care Home in Saskatoon. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Roma, and his three sons: Jim (Brenda) and Jim’s daughters Rhean (Aaron Paraszczynec) and Shallyn (Kurtis Gryba); Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski; and Bob (Anna) and their daughter Andrea.
He was predeceased by all of his cousins, aunts, uncles, parents, and his coffee buddies.
He celebrated 91 years of life with family and friends and is much better known as Dad, Gido or Stan. He was born in Hafford, SK, farmed in the Richard, SK area and spent the bulk of his after-farming career in the Battlefords. He also attended the School of Agriculture at the U of S. His work life included farming, agriculture and sports broadcasting, and editor and writer.
The Saskatchewan work ethic ran strong in his veins and he spent many hours volunteering and serving in the community as a Rotarian, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Saskatchewan Farmer’s Union Director, and on various church and community boards.
Stan loved reading about and discussing history, and engaging in political coffee talk, but most of all, he loved his family. His smile was infectious, his support unconditional and his heart full of love and generosity. He will be missed.
A private family funeral will be held on Saturday October 10, 2020. The service will be live streamed starting at 10:00 AM (Saskatchewan Time) accessible from: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc6Im60q8zPOU74m5-9iVSw
