Obituary of Reinhold Ortlepp
It is with sadness that the family of Reinhold Ortlepp announces his passing on September 12, 2020, a few days before his 97th birthday. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Reinhold was born in Hamburg, Germany and immigrated to Canada with his wife Christa and daughter Angelika in 1956. They first settled in Victoria, British Columbia and had another daughter, Karen in 1958 before moving to Saskatoon a few years later.
Reinhold had a career in lab technology and worked at the Royal University Hospital for many years. He was actively involved with the German-Canadian Club Concordia, chaired the Cultural Circle, and sang in the German Concordia Choir. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners, and the Rotary Club. He was also the chairman of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. He and Christa loved travelling and frequently returned to Germany for visits with family and enjoyed road trips in Canada and the US.
Reinhold is survived by his wife Christa, daughters Angelika (Bill) and Karen (Steve), and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Due to current pandemic restrictions, a private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery and family Celebration of Life will be held at Reinhold and Christa’s home of 57 years on Saturday, September 19, 2020.
