It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of our beloved Rory on Friday, September 4, 2020. Rory was the first child of Croy and Melvena Johnston born on February 23, 1955 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, weighing in at 2 lbs. 5 oz. Rory is survived by his loving mother Melvena; his sisters Lori and Melanie; brother-in-law Troy and nephew Croy who affectionately called him Uncle Dar. Rory is also remembered by loving relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Croy and by his grandparents, aunts and uncles. During his life, Rory experienced living and attending school in many towns and cities in Saskatchewan. He graduated from Watson High School. Rory worked various jobs before obtaining his private and commercial pilot's license and flying became the Joy of his Life. He was a bush pilot in Northern Ontario and also flew for NorcanAir. Rory with assistance of his family and partner Ken Lee from Winnipeg opened, owned and managed New York Fries in Regina and Saskatoon, selling the franchise stores in Regina in 2003 and Saskatoon in March of 2008. He also worked for various trucking companies. Rory was an Avid football and hockey fan. Rory was filled with Rider Pride! Rory's Funeral Service will be held at St. John's Anglican Cathedral, (816 Spadina Cres) on Thursday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m. Covid protocol will be in place and masks mandatory.
