Obituary of Maryce Reeves
After a short illness, Maryce died early on Wednesday 15 July 2020 at Royal University Hospital aged 69. She is survived by her husband Malcolm, sons Dan and Ben and grandchildren Henry and Vivian. Maryce was born on 12 October 1950 in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England. Her father Jack was a prison officer and as a result she spent her childhood in many UK towns and cities including Liverpool, London, Princeton, and Durham (anywhere with a high security prison).
Maryce completed her secondary education at Durham Girls Grammar School and started working as a technician in the Department of Physics at the University of Durham. Maryce met Malcolm in 1968 and they married on 5 December 1970 in the chapel at Durham castle. In early 1971 couple moved to Oxfordshire and Maryce started work as a technician at the UKAEA Harwell Laboratory. Dan 1973 and Ben 1975 were born in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. The family moved to Saskatoon in August 1982 where they have lived for 38 years.
Maryce worked as a bookkeeper and tax preparer for many years and volunteered her expertise to help many new immigrants associated with the Chaldean church in Saskatoon. More recently, until her death, she served on the Board of Directors of the Terrace Condominium.
Maryce enjoyed quilting and sewing and was a voracious reader. She particularly looked forward to family holidays in the USA and the UK with her grandchildren.
