Obituary of Lillian Hemeon

HEMEON, Lillian

1937 - 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Lillian Hemeon announces her passing on May 19, 2020 at the age of 82.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Ron and her children: Gregory (Jolayne), Louise (Brian) and David (Laddy). As well, she will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Jordan (Jessica), Christopher (Mikayla), Erica, Jessica, Erin, Brayden, Ethan and Aiden; great grandchildren: Kiegan, Ryker, Everleigh and Macie and her brother Wayne Harris and sister Naiffae Hindi; as well as countless relatives and friends.

Lil was born in Westville, N.S. on November 23, 1937, graduated from High School in 1955 and went onto Acadia University in Nova Scotia. She graduated as a public health nurse in 1960 from Dalhousie University, where she met her partner for life, Ron. They married the next year and she followed her engineering husband to the various projects throughout England and Canada and finally settled in Saskatoon. During those times, Lil continued to practice her nursing and helped with the setting up of Home Care in Newfoundland.

Lil was a very accomplished Duplicate Bridge Life Master player and spent many hours passing her knowledge to other players. She achieved her Diamond Life Master and had the 6th highest points in Northern Saskatchewan along with a World ranking in the top 200. Lil and Ron played as partners all over the world. They loved to travel and eventually visited all the continents except the Antarctic. Addition to travelling and Bridge, Lil enjoyed knitting, watching movies, cooking and walking.

Lil’s first passion was her children, grand and great grandchildren. Lil always made sure that all events including birthdays and Christmas were always celebrated with the family. She always organized the family gathering so every milestone was celebrated, as a family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Royal University Hospital for their care and compassion. Lil’s death will be sad lost to everyone.
