It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and dear friend, Rose Marie Chabot, who passed away at the age of 78 on May 15, 2020 at the St. Paul's Palliative Care Centre, with family by her side. Rose Marie was predeceased by her parents Mathew and Barbara Schafer, and sisters-in-law, Henrietta Schafer and Deanna Schafer. She is survived by her husband Claude Chabot and four children, Noé, Claudette (Glenn), Léanne (Mack), and Gerry; grandchildren Vincent (Trystan), Rachel (Riley) and Nathan (Lianne), Sasha; great-grandchildren, William, Samuel, Charles, Joseph, Stella, Cohen and Jensen, as well her two brothers Melvin Schafer and Eddy Schafer and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in 1941 in Kincaid, SK, was raised on the farm along with her two brothers in the Mankota area. In 1960 she married our dad Claude Chabot and settled in the town of Ferland, SK. Mom was a homemaker raising her four children and helped run the farm during the years that they farmed in the Ferland area. Mom was an active member of the parish, volunteering her time and cooking talents, where many banquets and fall suppers were prepared and enjoyed by the community. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, hosting family holiday dinners and spending time with her family and friends. Our mom was a very hospitable lady and her home was always open to family and friends stopping by for a visit, where cards were played and tasty treats were had. Her homemade cabbage rolls, pies, bread, cookies and jams were legendary. Mom enjoyed gardening, flowers and watching the hummingbirds through the many summers while living at Sunset Estates near Saskatoon. Due to COVID-19 assembly conditions a small family gathering to celebrate mom's life will be held at the Saskatoon Funeral Home on Thursday May 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. This Celebration will be live streamed, recorded, and viewed by going to the link on Rose Marie's obituary at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
