It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and wonderful friend to all.
As a young bride, Marlene received an education in “farm life”. Having come from the city, Marlene and Fred her husband moved to the farm where she quickly became adept at growing vegetables, baking bread and award winning cinnamon buns. It was a whole new adventure, one she quickly embraced. Returning back to Regina, she became a mom with the birth of her children, Darrel and Brenda. Her faith in Jesus Christ has always been central to her life and while in Regina, was the President of Women’s Ministries and did much volunteering at her church while touching many lives for her Lord and Saviour.
In 1990 she and Fred embarked on another new adventure; they sold their home and moved to Saskatoon. Marlene entered the workforce and thoroughly enjoyed her new life in retail, working in her daughter’s Boutique. She thrived on meeting new friends and loved the buying trips to Vancouver. Life was full caring for her family, working, buying trips, coffee at Starbucks and spending vacation time in Hawaii, and later, Phoenix.
Marlene is predeceased by her parents, Mort and Marry Munn. She is survived by her beloved Fred, recently celebrating 67 years of marriage; son Darrel (Rhonda); daughter Brenda (Brian); sister Carolyn (Garth); 3 grandchildren, Michael (Erica), Carey, Chris (Caitlin) and 4 great grandchildren, Livia, Mia, Sadie and Gracie.
Marlene’s deep and abiding faith was her foundation and the source of hope and encouragement during her struggle with cancer. The family is so grateful to the wonderful staff and nurses at Luther Special Care where he resided until her death. She was so thankful for the way she was treated and the loving care she received.
We dearly love our Marlene and will miss her but are comforted by the fact we know we will be reunited with her again. A private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
