Dear Elaine and family,
We are saddened to hear about Peter, no doubt you will all deeply miss him. However, with the depth of faith you have lived your life, we are assured that he will always be very present to you. You have many meaningful experiences to treasure and the most wonderful gift you have given to us is his involvement in our lives and his legacy that now shines throughout the community, the province and world wide. We are confident there will be tender reminders of this forward. Your outreach to others and enthusiasm as a family has touched us all.
Although we didn't see each other often, both Peter's and your smile and warmth, Elaine, lit up our world:) It is appreciable to have a wonderful couple to try to emulate.
Eternal rest grant unto Peter, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace and may the spirit of love and hope console you and your family Elaine. God bless.

My sincere condolences to the Zakreski family. Peter is one of the key people who hired me when he did my interview in the Philippines. He was FCL VP for HR that time. It was his yes that opened the door for me. Thank you Peter for giving me the opportunity to work in FCL and to come to Canada as immigrant. You have changed my life in a big way.

Dear Elaine and family,
Here is a photo circa 1968 of St.Paul’s parish council: Fathers Dormans and Koch, Veronica Leonard, Eileen Donegan, Len Cyr, Jack Leier, Dave Price, two women whose names I can’t recall, myself and chairman Peter Zakreski. Even at his then young age he showed the leadership which continued with his church, civic politics and community enterprises, sports and business to name a few. As an encore to his productive career with you he laudably pursued the remarkable charity in Malawi. His loss will leave an indelible mark in this city he loved, and we are bereft. His exemplary résumé will abundantly qualify him for the eternal life promised in his St. Francis’ prayer.
Dr. Ralph Schneider.

Peter was a selfless man, always wanted to share the best with the marginalized communities of Malawi. One morning in Malawi, he woke up feeling cold himself and he called me to buy blankets for 500 grannies in our village because he said " if i felt cold in my good bed then the grannies must be in need of blankets more than I do" he was a great man!

We will hold memorial prayers in Malawi on the same date that Peter will be laid to rest. We expect over 820 people representing all communities that interacted with Peter Zakreski including the Catholic Priests to be part of this ceremony.
The prayers will take place in Domasi, Mtogolo village close to Elaine Zakreski clinic in Zomba.
Peter Zakreski was a Malawian of Canadian origin. He loved Malawi and Malawi loved him more.
May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace. Till we meet again.

To you Elaine & your loving Family: We learned of Peter's passing while here in Cabo San Lucas. Our most sincere sympathies to you & your Family.
Peter left a significant footprint of good in our community & a legacy that will not soon be forgotten. He was the epitome of Rotary's motto: Service above Self.
My first real and lasting memory with Peter goes back to about 2011 when we attended the Rotary District Convention in Winnipeg. We spent 16 hours in the car together on this trip. Making a few stops along the way for coffee & lunch breaks, I marvelled at the fact that he knew people at every stop we made & had good conversations with them. I learned of course that Peter travelled and visited many of these small towns & villages in his work with Federated. Peter & I spent 3 years on our Rotary Club's Executive where I came to know and appreciate Peter as a person & committed lndividual. We will miss his presence.
Although we will not be physically present with you Elaine as you say your final goodbyes to Peter, be assured that we will be with you in our thoughts & prayers. All our love-Gary & Marjorie. Romans12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; Mourn with those who mourn.

Our dear Peter and Elaine asked me to compose the theme song for Hope for Malawi. It would be my first composition. I have always desired to go to Africa and now my song is played on the radio every week in Malawi. "Theres hope for Malawi Theres hope for you and me. Each helping hand makes real Gods plan" Peter had more than a helping hand...he had a helping heart. His legacy is how he lived loved and laughed. I will be forever grateful to both Elaine and Peter for their love and confidence in me. Their spirit was contagious and I grew into a stronger woman for knowing them. In the words of my 11 year old son "Maybe this is a dream and after we die we wake up! Thank you Peter May you rest in Gods loving embrace and wake up to Gods face. Lord keep Elaine and Peter's family ever close to your mercy as they remember, celebrate their dear Peter and help them in their deep grief. Amen. Love Angela Penna

To Elaine and family, and loved ones,
Our deepest sympathies to you on the passing of Peter.
Peter had such a significant impact in our community, and his contribution to the Saskatoon Friendship Inn should be noted among the many things he did. He served as a Board Director from 2005 - 2011, bringing leadership as Chair for the first three years of his term. This era was a significant one for the Inn, as the Board envisioned and brought to life an expansion to the building.
Beyond this big endeavor, Peter remained a friend of the Inn, often coming with his Rotarian friends to serve a meal and strike up a conversation with community guests and neighbors.
We will miss Peter - his quick wit, engaging smile, and his willingness to be a friend to many.
Sandra Kary, Executive Director
-on behalf of the Board and Staff of the Saskatoon Friendship Inn
