Obituary of Nadine Bogren-Robinson
How does one start writing an obituary but make it as special as the person you are writing it for? Mom was 94 years young. It’s not how old she was but how old she acted. She had a tremendous feel for people. Whoever she met had an immediate affinity for her. She was kind, had a way about her that left people with a good feeling. She never told a joke in her lifetime but was still one of the most jovial people you would have ever met. She was ready and willing to do almost anything to help. Organized, with a keen mind, she worked, and worked hard. Born in Lucky Lake, she was predeceased by her sisters Vivian, Thelma and Marion as well as her brother Wilfred Gillis. She went to high school at Bedford Road and married dad (Edwald) in 1944. Four children later, Bryant, Mavis, Douglas and Cameron. Sadness came when Mavis passed away at age six. Mom still soldiered on, even as Dad took sick. After Dad had passed away she still took on the task of being Worthy Matron of The Eastern Star Regal Chapter 132 in Saskatoon. Widowed at 49, she ended up leaving the U of S and taking a position with the Human Rights Commission. She married again to J. William Robinson, someone she knew from High School (and his five children). She moved to Toronto where they started entertaining a great deal. She was renamed M.O.M (Mother of Many). After retirement, she and Bill settled in Saskatoon again. Bill passed a few years later and she moved into Luther Towers. A great deal of new friends were found. This could go on and on, but to sum up as easily as I can, at Mom’s request, there is no funeral but we will have a celebration of life later in the year. Nadine’s “boys” wish to thank the great friends past and present from Hoops ‘n’ Hollers; doctors and nurses at Saskatoon Hospitals; Jo Joba Hills, California; and around the world; the staff and nurses at Luther Towers and Special Care Home; a much respected nod to Dr. Das. Very special love, kisses and hugs to Cuz’s Ted, Bonnie and Allan and particularly to her adopted kids Wanda and Peter. With this we bid a much earned rest for Mom. She was one in a billion, farewell and God’s speed. You shall be missed greatly. “The Kids”
