Obituary of Elizabeth Androsoff

ANDROSOFF, Elizabeth September 9, 1934 – January 9, 2020 In loving memory It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother and Baba, Elizabeth Androsoff. Elizabeth was born September 9, 1934, on the farm west of Langham. The family then moved near Daphne where she and her siblings were raised and went to school. Her early working career led her to Blaine Lake where she enjoyed her work at the CNR Café. It was here where she met the love of her life, Alex Androsoff. They were engaged on Valentine’s Day and married March 25, 1953. The couple resided on the family farm 6 miles east of Blaine Lake where they raised a family of five boys. Farm life for Elizabeth consisted of raising a flock of laying hens, butcher chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, raising pigs, milking cows and growing a huge garden. Her garden consisted of every vegetable and fruit needed to survive the winter months including the biggest carrots ever. She was also very active in the Doukhobour Church and Ospenia Cemetery. Elizabeth’s brother Fred Stushnoff, wife Sharon and their sons, Gordon, Tim and Steven, were a vital part of the success of their farm. Fred was only ever a phone call away. Another constant in their family life was Alex’s brother Fred, wife Edna, and their children, Larry and Judy. Living only a mile apart, these two families spent much quality time together creating everlasting memories. As the years passed, grandchildren arrived and became the centre of attention for Baba. Even though she loved the boys, the girls were the apple of her eye. She taught them the necessities of life. This included making delicious borscht, pinching the varenniki, filling the pyrahi perfectly, drinking kvass, and simply having fun. The grandsons enjoyed eating Baba’s traditional creations. Most importantly and never to be forgotten, Baba was full of hugs and kisses. In 1995, after the selling their farm, Alex and Liz retired to Blaine Lake. She resided at her home until her peaceful passing on January 9, 2020 in St. Paul’s Hospital, with family by her side. She will forever be remembered by sons Kerry (Naomi), Jack (Dorothy), Edward, Danny (Deborah), and George. Grandchildren, Dawn (Nick) Calliho, Tammie (Christian) DenOtter, Nicole Saprunoff, Bailey (Matthew) Petrow, Terrai (Neil) Nagy, Dallas Androsoff (Devon Leiffers), Alysia Androsoff, Aiden Androsoff, and Dylan Androsoff. Great grandchildren Erika, Maddison, Michaela, Ruby DenOtter, Pete Petrow, Caius and Tennyson Nagy. Brother Fred (Sharon) Stushnoff, sister- in-law Edna Androsoff, aunt Mabel Androsoff, and numerous nieces and nephews. Elizabeth joins in God’s Garden her husband Alex Androsoff, grandson Nicholas Androsoff, parents John and Molly Stushnoff, sister Susan Hamilton, brother-in-law Fred Androsoff. Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 10:00 am, at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave N. Interment will take place at Ospenia Cemetery. Our utmost gratitude goes to the entire staff at the St. Paul’s Palliative Care Unit for the loving care shown to Mother. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care.
