My deepest condolences to Shawns family. I knew Shawn through my brother-in-law Paul Ringuette who married my sister Colleen. He left a lasting impression on me because of how funny he was. Paul always spoke very highly of him through out the years. Shawn was taken from this earth too soon but his foot print will never be forgotten. RIP.

Shawn was our gentle giant! We often shared great conversations about his time in the military, his home overlooking the river and his love for his family. Shawn smiled with such pride when speaking about his wife and daughter. Shawn was eager to help others and took time to connect with everyone on a personal level. You will be so missed my friend, you were and forever are a beautiful spirit.

I have good memories of Shawn and often had chats over many things. I thought of him as the gentle giant and loved his directness and humour. I often thought " what haven't you done Shawn", or " how did you not blow your beard off".... or see him come into the area at work with a smirk on his face knowing he did something humorous to someone. Sometimes he would tell me and if he didn't... not sure you wanted to know.... Hahahaha
I remember the day he told me you were expecting and the joy and pride on his face as he talked about it. It showed later when I would ask how the family was doing and how time was flying by so fast. That his little girl wasn't so little anymore. So much pride with a glint in his eye.
I remember him talking about the other staff he deployed with at different times, the pride he had for all of them and how sad when some had fallen to early. Those were long conversation.
I also remember the day he told me he was sick. That stopped me in my tracks, lost my breath... we talked for a long while that day.
Shawn, may your light shine bright as you watch over the family and join your fallen friends and family. It was a pleasure to know you gentle giant.
Condolences to all the family and sending you a prayer of strength in the days and anniversaries ahead.

I am sorry for your loss. Shawn was a great guy, though I only knew him for a few years, he was a Brother in arms and good friend. I was lucky to visit him at his beautiful home while travailing Wes Allen. Shawn had a great spirit and the last time we spoke via E-Mail that spirit was just as fierce as ever. You will be missed my friend, until we meet again...

I remember Shawn always having time to chat about horticulture and himself (haha) (and anything else that came up during the course of the conversation). We spoke at length on his yard, how to make it beautiful but functional and all the endangered Prairie Lilies on his property. He was funny, kind and always willing to stop and visit. I loved his dark sense of humour (appreciated and reciprocated) which I know he acquired over his years in the forces and with corrections. I loved hearing his stories about his time with the CAF (many afternoons were spent swapping stories; Although I think he blathered on more at length than I did).
You will be missed my friend!
