Obituary of Dean Anthony Rehaume

Dean was taken from us suddenly on the night of October 22, 2019, at the age of 57. He had suffered an aneurysm and was transported via STARS to the Saskatoon Hospital. Testing showed the bleeding and damage was severe. On October 23, 2019, at 5 pm Dean passed away, however, Dean was not done yet. His body was sustained on life support and he was able to donate both kidneys, the islet cells from the pancreas and his liver. Four people will have a new lease on life because of Dean.
Dean is predeceased by his mother Connie Krietz (Rehaume) & survived by his father Cecil Rehaume, sister Denice, half-brother Raymond, daughters Jodie Ankner and Sheena Ferrari, and his 2 grandchildren Brynn and Weston Ankner.
Dean was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on September 15, 1962. He was the 1st child of Cecil Rehaume and Connie Krietz, older brother to sister Denice and half-brother Raymond Rehaume. Connie, Dean, and Denice relocated to Calgary, Alberta in 1969.  
Dean was very close to his sister Denice who was only 17 months younger. Dean’s childhood & adolescence was spent playing with his models, logo’s, glow in the dark Frisbee, bow and arrows, gopher traps, and collecting bugs, frogs, and pop bottles along the road to use to buy candy and comics. He’d often walk with his sister to the Zoo and to Junkyards to collect steel ball bearings for his marble set. He had a paper route and would use the money to buy items for his bike. He had another paper route in Elboya and used the money to buy 45s for his record player. He had many friends, was on a hockey team & played kick the can, and hide and seek with the neighborhood kids.
In Junior High Dean was popular with the girls which helped with his shyness. His sister use to enjoy reading the comments about him on the bathroom walls. In High School, he was even more popular. Everyone knew him by the flick of his long brown hair, his pocket-less French jeans, his pimp boots, and leather jacket. His 1st job was as a busboy at the White Spot. He used the money to buy his 1st Camaro.
He quit school in Grade 11 and worked at various places. One in particular, was Horne and Pitfield where he met his wife Laura in the spring of 1983 and married in June of 1986. They have 2 children together. Jodie who was born in 1984 and Sheena born in 1987. Sadly the marriage didn’t last but we are blessed that 2 beautiful girls and 2 grandchildren are the result of that union.
Later in life Dean worked at Lucerne foods where he met some wonderful friends he kept in contact with over the years. He could often be found with a smoke, a bush beer, hard rock playing on the stereo and the phone in his hand. He loved to call all his friends and family at all hours just to talk.
The loss of his Mother in 2001 was very hard. His friends made sure he wasn’t alone too much and took great care of him, especially one in particular named Gail.  Gail was so caring and understanding towards Dean, they eventually became a couple. He and Gail moved to Saskatoon in March 2010 when Gail got a job with Agrium. In 2017 they moved to Esterhazy for Gail’s work. It was hard for Dean to adapt to the ever-decreasing sized communities but he eventually got to like the small-town living.  
He hated new technology and preferred to live a simple life. His last days were spent working in his large garden with Gail, and walking into town with their beloved dog Tazzie.
He will be sadly missed but we know he’ll be watching over us all with those big beautiful brown eyes and that mischievous smile.
The Celebration of Life will be on November 9th at 1 pm at the Canyon Meadows Community Hall located at 848 Cantabrian Drive S.W. Calgary, Alberta T2W 6G8.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society or STARS Air Ambulance.
