I met Dennis at the University of Chicago in 1963 where we both were studying statistics. He was my best friend there. He took me home to Moose Jaw and Saskatoon for our spring break. It was 60o when we left Chicago in late March. It was -3o when we crossed from Minnesota into Manitoba, and that was the warmest it got the whole time I was in Canada. It got to -27o in Saskatoon, the coldest temperature I have ever experienced.
I returned to Canada the following summer to stand up in Dennis’ wedding to Judith. He left Chicago the following summer after we both received our MS degrees. We stayed in touch for several years, but never saw each other again.
He introduced me to hockey (as a spectator, not a player), and we attended Blackhawk games together in Chicago. He also taught me to drive a stick-shift car as I had never had one before.
He talked me into betting on Sonny Liston in the Liston/Clay fight at 1:6 odds. I lost and had to buy him a six-pack.
He was one of the finest people I have ever known, and I am very sorry to learn (belatedly) of his passing. My condolences to his family.

So sorry to hear of Dennis' passing. I met Bryn and Ryan in high school at Aden Bowman and was lucky enough to have Dennis' help with math and the use of his Macintosh computer (and dot matrix printer) - he was on the cutting edge of technology in the 80’s! I remember his quick wit and his love of dogs, starting with Kelly & Shandy, and later Murphy & Ranger at the first DenCyn Ranch. My sincere condolences to Cynthia, Bryn, Ryan and families.

Rest in peace, Dennis (Bro-in-Law). All those trips to Marion Ohio, that you, Cindy and I had to make to my mother's and your mother-in-law's place over the years, have come to an end.
Cindy, Debby Dullege also sends her condolences to you and the family.

Very sad news. He died too young! Dennis was a wonderful colleague, always friendly and helpful, with never an unkind word about anyone. He was a model for us all.

We lived next door to the O’Shaughnessy family for many years. Our kids went to school together. Dennis was a good neighbour, a good friend and a big part of community youth hockey and soccer as coach. He was known to many as Mr. O.
Dennis also volunteered at our kids school, teaching enriched mathematics to some grade 8 students, giving them a head start with high school math.
Our sincerest sympathy to Bryn, Ryan and their families. May you be comforted by memories of happy times together.

Sending our sincere sympathy to the O'Shaughnessy family on the passing of Dennis. Don has many neat memories of him and Dennis taking their fathers cars out for a slippery ride. Rest in peace Dennis.
May special memories give you strength at this time
