I very much regret I am unable to attend the Celebration of Life Service for Rudy. Rudy was an amazing person. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He was ready to go when his life became so restricted because of his illness.
I missed seeing Rudy for the last time by one day. I was visiting Saskatchewan in October and had planned to see Rudy the day after he died.
My husband, Richard and I moved to Saskatchewan in 1988 and after a few months began to attend Pleasant Point Church. I worked with Edith &Rudy at Cardwell’s counselling agency and had been invited by them to attend. We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome by Edith and Rudy and the rest of the church.
We became regular attendees and part of our routine was to go to Rudy’ and Edith’s house after church, so much so that Edith would apologize when they had other plans and we were unable to have lunch together. Other church members would often join us and there were many lively discussions about the sermon or just about anything really. This ritual continued for years.
Our friendship grew and we did many social things together. I can remember one skiing trip to Green water Park. There was a mix up in our accommodations and we had to spent the first night in a motel room together , as our cabin was not ready. It was a bit of a restless night for Richard and I. The silence of the night was punctuated by snoring. It was a source of amusement later when we related to Edith and Rudy that one would start snoring, stop for a few seconds and, as if on cue, the other would continue. The other memorable and amusing story from that trip was at our breakfast next morning,I requested a boiled egg for breakfast and was told they were unable to make it???
Our dog,Bear, was often part of our adventures, and when he passed away , he was buried on the Daniel Farm, a favourite place for him.
Rudy and Edith were very supportive to me during Richard’s Illness and death and the aftermath.
Their friendship and the time we spent together will always be an important part of our almost 30 years in Saskatchewan.
Rest in peace, Rudy. I will always remember you.

Dear Edith and family,
Our hearts break for you in the loss of your husband and father. There are no words......
Rudy and Edith were our neighbours and friends. We often passed them by, going for their long walks on the grid road. They always seemed genuinely interested in our family. We had the pleasure of listening to Rudy's sermons on many occasions and they really hit the heart. His strong faith and down to earth demeanour encouraged many people. Rudy was extraordinary! When Terry was away travelling one day, I called Rudy to come and shoot a racoon that got caught in our trap! I didn't want the racoon to suffer needlessly for days, so I was feeding it until Terry came home. But Rudy laughed and said "What. Don't be silly! I'll be right!" and he took care of it and even disposed of it. It was so nice of him.
We pray that all the good memories of your beloved, be a blessing to you at this sad time. He will be missed.
Our deepest condolences,
Debi & Terry Bokshowan

Dear Daniels Family,
Thank you for sharing Rudy with me. He introduced me to whitetail and goose hunting on the family farm and mule deer hunting in the Thompson hills. I am forever grateful. Thank you for the great memories Rudy and one day we’ll be hunting together again.
Your friend,
Derek Brinkman
