Dear Karen and Family,
I extend to you my sincere condolences in the loss of Dear Ed. He was definitely one of the most unique individuals I have ever met. The late Father Len Cyr introduced me to you and Ed a long time ago at St. Paul’s Cathedral one Christmas Eve. I later had the pleasure of reacquainting myself with you at St. Mary’s Parish. As a former employee of Saskatoon Catholic Schools, I attended the opening of the Ed and May Scissons Environmental Centre, Ed’s very generous and forward-looking donation meant a great deal to our Catholic School Division. Ed saw a need and did something about it. His legacy of contributions, even the newly established St. Mary’s fund, tells us who he was and how his presence will be greatly missed and certainly remembered. He made a difference to the lives of others. May he now Rest In Peace. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Unfortunately I was out of town during Ed’s prayers and funeral but I held you, Karen, and your family, in my heart and prayers.
With Sincere Sympathy,
Lynda Browning.

Ed was a true witness of Faith in and Love of God and Love of Neighbor. A real inspiration to Marion, who also suffers from Parkinson's, and to me. May Ed now rest in peace. Condolences and gratitude to you his caring wife Karen and to Patrick and Michael and their families and relatives. Be assured of our continued prayers for Ed and for peace and strength for the entire family.

It was with extreme sadness that I heard of Ed's passing. My deepest sympathy to Karen and the family. I was very appreciative of Ed hiring our "young lad" as his yard man at the farm years ago. He not only learned to work hard but got an advanced education as Karen and Ed conjugated Latin verbs over lunch! I always enjoyed Christmas at the farm and the generosity of Ed and Karen's Christmas tree in our home. I am not sure I appreciated the 15 ft one he sent home with the boys when Ed thought I needed a "bigger" tree. It was a challenge to decorate. I am not sure Ed considered my single handed staining of our log house "productive" and might have suggested more than once that it bordered on insanity. My most memorable time with Ed was our years working on the OCP and Zoning bylaws for the municipality. It was during that time that I gained a real appreciation for the man, the mind and his passion for all things rural. I will miss his groovy glasses, his snazzy socks and his smile as he bounded up the steps to our front door. We are out of town this weekend but will be thinking of you all as you celebrate a life well lived. His obituary summed it up perfectly!!!

Dear Karen -- thinking of you from the west coast at this time of sadness mixed with the blessing of beautiful memories. I so appreciated the wonderful Christmas trees offered by you and Ed ... the joy of trudging through the snow, smelling the fresh scent of pine in the crisp air, choosing the perfect tree, then celebrating with you and friends over a hot cider as we gloried in the beauty of the land.
Sending a virtual hug of support at this time of grief and tenderness. Love from Victoria, Sherrill
