Memories of Jane Ellen Marie (Davenport) Coffin
September 11, 1929 – September 28, 2019

Jane (Davenport) Coffin passed away peacefully at Saint Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
Jane was born on September 11, 1929, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to Michael and Marie Davenport. She attended elementary school at St. Joseph School and graduated from Nutana Collegiate. On January 31, 1951, Jane married Lloyd Coffin and they raised two sons, Bob and Bill, on the family farm near Colonsay, SK. Jane began her working life as a bank clerk. After marrying Lloyd, she shared the work involved in operating the farm. She was also employed for a time in the Accounting Department at Noranda Potash Mine. Later in life she served as a librarian’s assistant with the Saskatoon East School Division at Clavet School.
Jane had a passion for handiwork. She enjoyed creating and sharing a variety of knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing projects. She was a “city girl” who adapted to farm life and all aspects of it. She was an active participant in the Colonsay community, serving on a variety of committees and local boards. Jane busied herself with Lodge work, Cub Scouts, curling, community events, fundraising and church projects. She especially enjoyed following the activities of her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and the many hours spent with friends. Lloyd and Jane lived most of their lives on the farm near Colonsay, and in Saskatoon, but also enjoyed travel. Trips, often involving family and friends, were taken and time spent at a winter home in California, and at the Sturgeon Lake cottage in summer, also filled their days.
Central to Jane’s life was family. She cherished every moment shared with immediate and extended family. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, and daughter, Bevee. She is survived by her sons, Bob Coffin (Debi), Bill Coffin (Cindy); grandchildren, Jennifer Coffin (Andrea Blondeau), Kelly Coffin (Pam), Blayne Burrows (Jordy), Andrew Coffin (Sarah Schneider); great grandchildren, Easton and Cooper Burrows; and several nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home, to be followed immediately by a time of fellowship at Edwards Family Centre. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jane’s memory to the Saint Paul’s Hospital Close to Home Campaign (306 655-5821), or a charity of the donor’s choice.
