Dear Monks family. I am going through my in-laws photo albums, and I believe this one is of Dr Gerry Monks (second last from the right, with the bow tie). Apparently he was quite good friends with Aloysius Pine, which is why he is in the photo of the Pine Family reunion in 1954. We do not know who some of the other people are; could be his family members. Our condolences to you and your family.

To the Monks family,
I am so sorry and sad to hear about Dr. Monks' passing. He will always be Dr. Monks to me, although I fondly remember him through my parents' eyes as well. We couldn't have asked for better next-door-neighbors than the Monks - Katherine, Gerry and all the kids. I remember Dr. Monks' laugh so well.
I have no doubt that once again Gerry, Katherine, Marc and Betty Lou are having a great time -- drink in hand -- in the next life.
Love to you all.

This feels like the end of an era. I like to think that he has joined mom, dad and the rest of the old crew and that they are all now enjoying a game or two of bridge, a round of golf and of course the odd martini.
Although he was small of stature the passing of Dr Monks will leave a large void in the world. I always remember the story of mom visiting him to have a scan of her brain done after hitting her head. Dr Monks came out to the waiting area where mom and a number of other patients were sitting and declared loudly that the scan of her head showed nothing....absolutely nothing. He thought he was very funny. And he was.
Trish, Lou, Des, John and Janice you have all had the benefit of your dad's wisdom, humour and love through the years. How lucky you are for he was a rare one. Enjoy your many memories, and smile knowing that he left the world a better place and will be missed by many.

Dear extended Monks family. I am thinking of you and the rich memories you have of "Dr. Monks" during his long and well-lived life.
He will always be "Dr. Monks" to me. I have very fond memories of hanging out in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Monks during my growing up years. They were warm and generous with their lovely home. Dr. Monks was the gold standard in teasing with affection. The twinkle in his eye was a dead giveaway.
I feel lucky to have known him for a few years. Thank you - especially Trish and Lou - for sharing your mom and dad. Rest in well-deserved peace, Dr. Monks.
